Just for the record did this guy get fired or did he resign? I never got the whole story. Thanks.

He resigned. He sent a very flattering resignation letter to President Bush, too. And was on an interview where he spoke of how much Bush was doing in the war on terror, and that he was impressed.

Clarke's not credible. He's said one thing, and now he's saying the complete opposite. What he's saying may be true, but we have no idea. Another source needs to be found that can corroborate his story.

Do you think he may be stirring up all this to sell his book?

To sell his book, and because he may have a political agenda. He has worked for several presidents, has worked in the whitehouse for 33 years, I think. He wanted to, and thought he was going to be, director of homeland security. Instead he was made director of cyber crime. It was shortly after that he resigned. It could be that Kerry has offered him the position he seeks...

And I think he was mad about not getting his promotion.

He was demoted actually, and thus provides possible motivation for his resignation, either voluntarily or involuntarily. A man in his position, would not be 'fired' but would be asked to render his resignation.

Ahh, Kerry, is anyone worried that this guy will win elections(cause he will win), or is he capable of being president? Will he do a good job?

That book would have never been written had he gotten the promotion he wanted. He's a hypocrite.

And the Clarke issue is a stellar crucible to determine the outcome to that question.

Professional competency is not an issue - as having a multi-term, bipartisan career would indicate.
Also along those lines, he recieved a hand written personal note from Bush extolling his virtues & how much he'd be missed.
The numerous Republicans ( Clarke, O'Neill, Zini, Lindsay, ect.) who have been blowing the whistle on the corruption & incompetence within the Bush administration that they worked in and were appointed to serve, has drawn the most severe spin: there is no flip flopping by any of them - realize that is the only smear possible that the Administration & all their Brownshirts can really get any traction with.

Think about a spirited & emphatic hand off by Sandy Berger & Dick Clarke to Condi Rice & John Ashcroft. Realize that all requests were denied by inaction on their parts, with Ashcroft going so far as to make his budget with a $60M cut to anti-terror funding & Rice installing a level of dept. 2nd bananas as the filter to all real world issues that were off the PNAC script.
That the idiotic demotion of the most knowledgable individual on the team is referenced as a sour grapes genisis point is more blind partisan spin - it actually shows the administration's duality of incompetence & complicity to PNAC - meaning he's "too on point, let's derail him".

That sums it up rather well bouttime.
Its so easy to see whats going on if you dont look at the world thru partisen points of view. Bush will be exposed eventually, just like NIXON, and then there will be plenty of crow to go around.
Kromtronix, i think its great that you want to participate in the grown up discussions, but its hard to take you seriously when you have transformers for an avatar.

That book would have never been written had he gotten the promotion he was a logical choice for AND 9/11 never would have happened.
