China launches micro satellite

this thing is pretty light for a satellite: about 55 pounds. it's a small transmission type used for stereo mapping. it'll also be used for high tech experiments. do u consider it to be a threat that china is joining the space race?

China entering space is a potential threat, but I don't think they are at that point yet. Of course, as soon as they park an imagary satellite over the continetal U.S. people will take a little more notice.

I dont mind this at all. We don't own space, so we can't exactly regulate what country can and cant go out there.

If anything, it can only help push space technology further.

Its only fair that they even the playing field with some spy satalites of their own.

it said in the article it launched two... a 450 lb one for stereo mapping, and a 55 lb one for high-tech experiments. your post made it seem like there was only one.

seriously.. even look at their military, they have more then 2000 Mig-19 for #s sake, and their fc-1 (copy of soviet rejected design of a single engined mig-29), its so 70's, and their J-10 is a piece of crap copy of copied f-16 (israeli lavi), MOST of their airforce cannot fire medium range missiles or even anything guided, and their navy? what navy? destroyers bought from russia and old ass submarines that can be heard from other part of the world and junkyeard 50's landing craft, without russian/israeli/american help china would of still be in the dark ages
