Defensive? It is not in the ritual and you have yet to show anyone otherwise.

Don't make such a fuss about it if you don't want to draw attention to it.

I asked you to explain the ritual because you are the mason.

But a mason does not give secrets away.

And of course I can't 'prove' anything because I am not a mason

and if I were, I wouldn't be giving the secrets away.

So round in circles the dialogue with a mason can go unless one stops.

Which part of the ritual do you need some sort of clarification of?

When is a symbol hidden, and when is it a historical homage? Coins and notes all over the world have symbols with widely different meanings.

Except the eagle has been a symbol of Germany for over 900 years. It's not like the Nazis adopted it from nowhere... Of course they would use it in building their own vision of Germany, because what stands for Germany more than an eagle in the minds of its people?

To further Josh's point. It was a symbol they adopted from the Roman Legions who used the device as a personification of the Army.

During the Byzantine period there was a strange looking double headed eagle symbol that showed up in the period sculpture. In those times there was a single ruling body that controlled both the spiritual and secular governments.
I think they realized they were in for some trouble with that arrangement

That was pretty much my point There are only so many symbols. We associate the triangle with masons, but it's such a ubiquitous symbol, we could as well say they are referencing Egyptian pyramids.
The euro coins and the EU flags have five-pointed stars. Are they just copying the US? Or are they covert neopagans? Or have they no double meaning? (gasp!)
