Hi,

I would like to post an article in the survival forum. The article was written by a member of a bushcraft forum here in the uK.

The author has given me permission to post it here in the survival section, as long as he is accredited, which is fine.

Is it ok to post the name of the site where he posted the original article, or is this against T&C? I was just going to put, "Article accredited to (insert authors name) at (insert bushrcaft forum site).

If it is a no-no, i can just post his name as the author.

Thanks for any advice.

The rules require that you not only give credit, name the author and the site but you should only post the first paragraphs (2 or 3 tops) and provide a link to the article on the site it is hosted on.

This not only is the proper thing to do, it will provide some exposure for the site that hosts the article. Not to mention since the article is already online it's redundant to have the entire thing on two separate sites. The only caution there is to make sure there is no porno, or other offensive content on the site you're linking to.

I'd also caution you to remember to provide plenty of your own input on the article.

Simply posting the quoted text will turn a lot of members away if there isn't some user input to go along with it.

Look forward to seeing what you've got.

...and also: Thank you for asking beforehand. Very much appreciated.

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated.

May i also say, i think it is well cool that you are ok about a link being put up to the site where the article came from.

I know this is a respectful thing to do, as do many others, but i have lost count of how many forums do not allow this, for fear of people seeing another website with similar topics.

However it backfires and i have seen it cause a major loss of membership on some sites.

So a big thumbs up for that.
