German farmer suspect the syngenta's Bt176 corn responsible for to have killed for several of its cows since 2001. This last indeed cultivated more and more Bt176 corn since 1997. Its cows fell sick after having received for food the corn 2000 harvest. Five cows died in four months and the others had a less consequent production of milk.
Taking away of fabrics were sent to the University of Göttingen for analysis but disappeared without explanation. (of course)

In October 2002 then in 2003, seven other cows died in spite of the decision of the farmer to stop the transgenic corn culture in February 2002.

In April 2002, Syngenta agreed to assume the damage for the death of five cows while at the same time the cause of their death was not established. Current knowledge on the toxicity of protein LT is not clear well that it is established that this protein can persist in the stomach of the cows, to even find itself in the ground by the means of the bovine dejections.
Today, no analysis is envisaged, neither on the cause of these deaths, nor on the real toxicity of this protein. The Bt176 corn was authorized with marketing in Europe in 1997 but of the countries like Italy, Austria and Luxembourg prohibited the use of it. Germany also restricted of it the use in March 2000 with the only field of research without excluding the possibility of nourishing animals with this corn.
In spite of this regulation, Greenpeace association discovered, in 2002, that fields had been sown with Bt176 corn, except framework of tests in fields, which led to the destruction of these cultures. This same corn is currently cultivated in Spain (approximately 30 000 ha). Bon appetit !
