LOL, more writers?!? How many people did he roll up into this thing?

We need to take the ship in for new star fighters to be loaded and I was wondering if while in dock, we could take on new writers.

Especially for the role of Chief Medical Officer - as he seems to have vanished into thin air.

I can't stop thinking about that one scene in Star Trek III - I think - at the beginning.

The Enterprise goes into dock around Earth and all those people are looking out of the viewports at the ship - which is completely banged up from the fight w/ the Reliant.

lol

That's what I keep imagining after a battle between the Penelope and the Yydryl - if that were ever to occur.

I really think we should find a way to take the story back to Earth for a refit and refuel. I'm sure it would lead to some interesting situations, plus resolve some conflicts with the admiralty we're having at the moment...

LOL

Hell w/ those desk-jockey admirals. We have problems on a ship of the line. Those old salty dogs have forgotten what it's like out on the high seas.... er.... stars....

lol

We do need to go back to Earth, I just want a buffer to try and figure out what happened before we go rushing back in.

Several more writers have expressed interest in coming aboard (either one of the ships). Some are holding back whie they watch developments and that's just ducky. All have been instructed to identify themselves in this thread prior to exposing themselves into the main thread.

If (and when) the opera becomes popular with the membership, no doubt others will come forward wanting to play a part.

We don't want TOO many cooks in the kitchen, so I propose an upper limit to each crew: 13.

It's an ancient formula for co-operation most will recognize immediately.

Hey, I had only gotten on ATS for moments over the last 4 to 5 days.

Sorry, I had been very busy with some Red Cross stuff.

I will read the "Penelope" thread now.

Well, to whosoever may be interested..... we still need

1) A Wing Commander for our Starfighters (when/if we get new ones - OR - a lead pilot character to control them)
2) A Science Officer
3) A Communications Officer
4) A First Officer (Since I don't have one yet and haven't slept for nearly 78 hours straight..... lol!)

Look forward to seeing the new faces around the thread. This is already one of the best threads I've seen on this site.

I have made contact with DJMessiah via a U2U. A friend of his died recently, that is why he has not been on.

Again, my condolences DJMessiah.

He says he will be posting again.

My deepest condolences to DJMessiah as well. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Also sorry for all the "arrest the doctor!" innuendo floating around -

It's obvious you do.

Your contributions set a high standard for all aboard the Penelope and have obviously influenced your crew in their posts as well.

Keep up the excellent work.

Penelope Crew and whoever else -

I've completed a draft historical primer for the events between the 21st century and the time of the story for you to use as a reference point to understand what Luder is thinking when he goes off into his . for several minutes at a time.

Hopefully, we can use this as a starting point to better flesh out our "galaxy" in this story.

Expect more background information as time allows.

This should be required reading.

It places historical relevance to the situation the Penelope finds herself in and also affects the crew of the Yydryl.

I may include some of the information in the preamble to the OP of the main thread, much in the way that Star Wars movies start out. Any ideas on the presentation of that would be welcomed.

Excellent work, mf_luder!
