Jessie Macbeth is the phony soldier Rush was talking about.

en.wikipedia.org...

Jesse Adam Macbeth (b. Jesse Adam Al-Zaid,[1] in 1984) is an anti-war protester who falsely claimed to be an Army Ranger and veteran of the Iraq War. He lied in alternative media interviews that he and his unit routinely committed war crimes in Iraq.[2][3] Transcripts of the video were made in English and Arabic.[4] According to the U.S. Army, there is no record of Macbeth being a Ranger,[5][6] or serving in a combat unit: he was discharged from the service after having been declared unfit or unsuitable for the Army, or both,[7] before he could complete basic training.[8]

After his release from the Army in 2004, Macbeth purported himself to be a veteran, telling war stories and garnering attention from mainstream,[9] alternative[10] and student media outlets. He joined Iraq Veterans Against the War in January 2006,[11] and represented, or was scheduled to represent them publicly at various events throughout the country before the organization required proof of service;[12][13][14] the organization has since said it does not endorse Macbeth or his accounts of military service.[11] Accounts in Macbeth's name appear on Military.com and Myspace.com, and both were used to post claims about military service in Iraq.[15] On September 21, 2007 Macbeth admitted in federal court that he had faked his war record. U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sullivan declared that Macbeth had been in the Army for just 44 days and had been dismissed as unfit.[16]

Classic taken out of context comment by Rush Limbaugh that is kept alive by his uninformed haters.

What Rush has is a good critique.
He has swift insight into the thinking and behavior of liberals, their emotional tics and problems with reality. He knows who they are and how they are, and he is good at predicting their reactions. Liberals are his subject, his bread and butter. He has that.
However, he does not have a complete consistent rounded positive proscriptive philosophical program, that does all the things that you would want a philosophical tool to do. If you did everything that he advocates, you would still have to figure out a whole bunch on your own. He is not a systematic original thinker or truthseeker. He is incorrect in some areas, insincerely conventional for reasons of conformism (I think, but I ain't no mindreader) in some other areas, and there are many true things he does not say. Taken as a lump, he's okay as far as he goes, and he does one thing well, he's like Mr. Piano Man.
What people call his arrogance is only an ironic pose, I think. Any front man in a band could recognize it as GOING BIG, to own your stage.

Rush quotes 3/20

"This administration is a joke. It's not the kind of joke you laugh at, though; it's a joke that makes you cry."

"They say that Barack Obama's such an elegant man, he's so suave and debonair. Yup. He gave away region one DVDs to Gordon Brown."

"The president's a cold, cold guy; it takes the prompter to create an aura of feeling and compassion around him. Now, think about that: it takes an electronic gizmo with a binary code to give Obama humanity."

"So Obama makes a joke making fun of disabled people, apologizes for it, and everybody accepts it: 'Ah, teachable moment, because we all know he really didn't mean it.' Sorry. He did mean it. You can tell what's in people's hearts when they're not on the teleprompter."

They also had the EIB Pop Quiz. Lets see how many you can get right!

1. Which national leader this week demanded the power to seize businesses he says are failing? Was it Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's thug dictator; Barack Obama, president of the United States; or former KGB thug Vladimir Putin of Russia?

2. Which political party vilified a private company so much that an outraged public sent death threats to employees? Was it America's Democrat Party? Was it the ChiComs, the Communist Party of China? Or Britain's Labor Party?

3. Which politician's got huge campaign donations from AIG? Democrat Senator Chris Dodd, Connecticut; Democrat president, Barack Obama.

4. In which country does the government attempt to intimidate members of the media who oppose its policies? Russia, China, Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba, or the United States of America?

5. Which national leader accuses citizens of his own country of being greedy and destructive because they are compensated too much in his view? Hu Jintao, China; Bashar Assad, Syria; Mullah Omar, Taliban; Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran; Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda; Barack Obama, United States of America?

Rush gets a well deserved day off Monday, so we will post more of why people listen Tuesday!

As I have explained before, people listen to Rush because he says things that people already agree with. Much like why so many people watch the #1 rated Cable News Channel....FOX News.

30 million are said to listen to mush... there are 330 million in the country ergo the vast majority couldn't care less about him... as for false news I don't know anyone who takes it seriously.

Its ok RR. At the present time, you can go ahead and believe Fox is #1. But the Truth be known, they were actually #3 and only recently this month moved to #2 following USA which holds the #1 Rank.

www.huffingtonpost.com...

IMO, Fox rode the war train along with other networks which saw a huge rise in viewers. With Fox being known as a conservative channel, if you take all the conservative subscribers, and put them all in one box..is it really any wonder that there are so many viewers on 1 station?

All the others have a more diluted pool, but if you added up the other stations, its possible that the number of prime time non conservative news channels would outnumber the view base of Fox by a large margin.

Peace

He said CABLE NEWS PROGRAM. Last I checked USA showed Law and Order SVU all the time. No news there.

Even so, your little article did show that they are number 2 in cable primetime. Which for a News channel is pretty darn good.

Wonder how Olberman is likeing it down there watching Oreily beating him every night.

Dude you just quoted it. What is wrong with you?

#1 cable NEWS channel- Fox News.

What are you missing?

In the cable news rankings they are #1 followed by CNN and the MSNBC.

Are you not comprehending what you are reading?

Fox News Ratings Remain Strong, #2 Cable Channel In Primetime

My bad..Gotta watch that comma. FNC is a channel. I was comparing overall network ratings vs news channel ratings. Fox is not top overall as a network, but leads in the news channel at present. A comparison correction. An oversite.

Peace

I know I freaked alot of people out by putting Rush Limbaugh and FOX news in the same post. Liberals heads are exploding everywhere!

Why is it....this is a general question for everyone...why is it that independent and intelligent thinkers are automatically branded a 'Liberal' by the ultra-right?

And, what, exactly, is wrong, anyway, with being a 'Liberal'?

I find the entire discourse tiring, lately. The term 'Liberal' is bandied about as if it's some sort of pejorative. I don't see the term 'Conservative' being used in the same way.

As to Rush Limbaugh....don't forget, he is an 'entertainer', first and foremost. Why do people listen to him? Well, some actually hang onto his every word, and that is a shame. Because they (and this is not MY term, they're proud of it) are 'dittoheads'.

Here's a real danger....errrr....possible danger, though.

Home-grown terrorism. The kind that Timothy McVeigh exhibited. (Remember Oklahoma City, anyone?) The kind of domestic violence that could be promulgated, when certain people are 'whipped-up' by Rush, or Sean Hannity, or Glenn Beck, et al, and these people who get all worked up decide, due to a certain lack of mental acuity, or downright mental illness, to act out their frustrations.

Free speech is wonderful, of course, and should never be abrogated.

But, is in a crime, in some jurisdictions, to incite to violence. It is a slippery slope.

I know of many, many so-called 'Liberals', independent thinking moderately-minded folk who hear the junk that spews from Ann Coulter, for instance (not to single her out) and their blood boils, but they never, ever feel the need to take up arms, or bomb the New York Post newspaper offices!!!

These moderate folk, whom the ultra-right rail against as being dangerous, just grit their teeth and realize that dissent is built in to our system. Education is the tool to counter the lies that gush out from self-serving, boorish boobs who have found that spewing hate is lucrative.

Then there is that guy who gunned down that preacher because he couldn't get to the people Bernie Goldberg listed in his book "100 people who are screwing up America.

These people never express remorse when their inflamatory rhetoric has unfortunate results... and it doesn't matter if its mush loosebowels or ann coulter.

The right may fume about the likes of Kieth Obermann but he has never voiced the hate filled rhetoric the most extreme commentators on the right have...

and it all started with mush loosebowels. He was the first of the inflamatory hard right talk show blah blah blahs.

He says the most sexist and racist things and calls them "jokes" but there is nothing funny about sexism or racism... EVER.

yes....as Keith Olbermann himself has said recently, there are times when he didn't say what he wanted to say, even though he knew some truths, but he NEVER stated an untruth just for money or ratings.

The Hannitys, O'Reillys, Coulters, Becks and Rush...are disengenuous at best, completely selling out for money at worst.

I can't help but notice that those on the right are masters of projection... 9 times out of 10 (especially when its inflamatory and/or outrageous) whatever they accuse the left of, they are the ones actually guilty of it... mush is especially guilty of this... when real facts won't fit he has no problem making them up.

Of course faux news makes him look like the soul of accuracy.

and msnbc makes fox news look like the truth squad

why do I hate liberals? because they want equality for everyone and want to change america to the point that no one would recognize it. Not everyone is equal that is just how life is. No matter how socialist you get, people still wouldnt be the same because there are always leeches sucking money off of the system. Just seeing pelosi's comment that illegal immigrants are patriotic threw me over the edge
