Obama's Poll Numbers Are Falling

online.wsj.com

It is simply wrong for commentators to continue to focus on President Barack Obama's high levels of popularity, and to conclude that these are indicative of high levels of public confidence in the work of his administration. Indeed, a detailed look at recent survey data shows that the opposite is most likely true. The American people are coming to express increasingly significant doubts about his initiatives, and most likely support a different agenda and different policies from those that the Obama administration has advanced.

Polling data show that Mr. Obama's approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. Obama's net presidential approval rating -- which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve -- is just six, his lowest rating to date.

M.E. CohenOverall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.

Obama's policies have caused a severe decrease in his popularity. His approval rating is already below where GW was in 2001! One third are STRONGLY opposed to Obama already!

Most likely this is due to the high degree of fear the public has about his socialist policies!
-69% worry about his increasing government.
-83% worry what he is doing will not work.
-82% worry about the staggering deficit increases.
-more people oppose Obama's budgit than favor it!
-17% fewer favor government health care than when Clinton proposed it in 1993.
-less than 25% think the government reflects the will of the people! Surprise surprise!
-less than 19% of people think Pelosi, Obama and Reid have passed legislation that will improve their lives! Incredible!
-2/3s of people have more confidence in their own economic judgement than in members of Congress! LOL!

"We face the possibility of substantial gridlock along with an absolute absence of public confidence that could come to mirror the lack of confidence in the American economy that the Dow and the S&P are currently showing."

Government is in deep trouble! At this stage of the Clinton admistration, Bill was dishing out conservative ideas like a Republican! It helped Clinton immensely. Can you imagine Barrack doing that? Never, he' a die hard lib.

I've said this b4 but I think every person who voted for him should get a wallet sized card that they get punched and dated when they decide they messed up---big time.

But alas, his most fervent of supporters will probably get jobs in his SS brigade beating the rest of us up.

It is REALLY hard to lose! Wow! Obama has an SS brigade? good lord! I recommend reading a story about the boy who cried wolf. It illustrates the problems resulting from fear mongering.

I don't know how the Op or myself are peddling disinfo this story was picked by most Mainstream Newspaper.
It's called polling and this is from Rasmussen-- a big poller.

It sounds to me like you're in Obama denial. But since this is still the USA I applaud your right to think as such.

The true Obama is coming out. All one had to do was read the books he has written to realize he is a Marxist socialist. He said whatever he had to so he could get elected and now that he is in, he will act on the agenda he has believed his entire life. We not only have a socialist president, but a completely inexperienced leader that has a skewed view of how things really work in a capatilist democratic country. This first 100 days should be clear enough for you to see what is going to happen as time progresses across the next 4 years if congress continues to back his agenda. However, some of the democrats are starting to come out of the delusion Obama has had them under and with that little bit of hope that they will not let him completely ruin the country.

I personally don't worry too much about polls that show approval ratings. Most Americans truly do not understand government civics. Anything that Obama and Congress has passed takes time to work itself into the system. If anybody truly thought Obama could stop this economic nightmare in a few months and turn it into paradise are or were only kidding themselves.

I have criticized Obama and Congress for some of the laws they are passing or have passed, but I do not deem Obama a failure for signing off or proposing these measures. The results of these measures are what will ultimately determine whether Obama succeeded or failed.

Well said. I think we are just seeing the effects of the stimulus. They were just saying on the news tonight that the interbank credit markets are freeing up. This is a direct result from the stimulus packages passed by Bush and Obama. I didnt vote for Obama and use to classify myself as a republican, I now am for whoever is best for the country. I think Obama will do fine, although some of his policies and spending frighten me I will be patient and give him the benifit of my doubt.

i am glad the polls numbers are falling and maybe the people are starting to wake up to the socialist obama regime.

nothing hes done has stimulated crap all hes done is line democrat leadership pockets so far.

class warfare, ridiculous spending that we dont have the money for our children dont have the money for and our grandchildren have the money for.

when he is gonna tax the rich take away money from people who have actually busted their butts to have something in their lives a quality of life that they earned.

and he supposedly is just gonna take away from them and give to the poor well if you watched the headlines or have done an reading at all. the rich have lost half of the wealth.

whats that mean to you and mean? well if the rich arent making as much they arent being taxed as much so the income that obama is counting on to fund all these so called social programs well folks that tax burden is gonna fall on little ole you and me.

the problem with social programs ie socialism is sooner or later you run out of other peoples money.

wake up people the real power to effect change is this country is the people ie you and me.

You're right about the public and their understanding of civics, politics, economics and on and on.

However I hope people don't ignore what is going on in Congress and sit around and wait. Most of what Congress is doing comes under pork, waistful spending, do nothing social programs, and payoffs to their political allies. That type of legislation went on for 30 years starting with Linden Johnson's "Great Society" and ending with Reagan. It didn't work then, it won't work now. The economists and think tankers are right about that.

The sooner we make it clear to Pelosi, Reid and Obama that they need to burry their waistful Socialist agenda, the sooner we can recover and begin the healing process. Until then we are going in reverse!

Looks like this survey will get the ball rolling and maybe get Americans to thinking about what really will work. Things all their legislation fails to address. Why not give tax breaks to all Americans earning incomes? Why just the 95%? The employer class has been hit as hard or harder by Obama's recession, why not give them a break so they can go out hand hire more people and start the wheels of production. Why make them pay all the taxes? Truely mistifying how Obama thinks sometimes!

Why not look into how money could be most efficiently spent to increase production and improve America's position in the market place? In stark contrast to Reids silly train to Vegas? Take a fast train to Vegas to do what, gambel? Get lucky? LOL! What about giving stimulus money to hundreds of thousands of illegals without checking for a green card. You know that money is headed straight to Mexico! Why don't the Democrats just throw money out of a helicopter? It would probably do more good and less harm to the country!

People will really start to wake up when they see that taxes for everyone, not just the "rich" making over $250k, have increased. But this is going to be a lot worse than the Clinton years. At least Clinton didn't have delusions of grandeur about turning this nation into a socialist cesspool.
