IMHO BinLaden is the next "hitler". Driving the middle class into the poor range will net them government benefits. But, they loose their freedom and are reliant on the powers that be and are "thankful to the obama"

Yesterday I heard of a coworker that was extremely sad/stressed because she was told by her child care provider that her fees would be increasing. Obama has removed aid to those in middle class income brackets across the board! She is a single parent that works full-time and makes 30-35k/ yr.
Not much in today's economy and she never misses work as a blackjack dealer.
Her child care is going to increase to $200 / week. This is the cost in the sleepy town of Bullhead city. With an average of $400 take home per week she has no idea what to do and is scared crapless!
I had no idea that this happened untill her friend told me why she was being so quiet...normally she is a happy gregarious woman. I thought about it and suggested that she volunteer for the next layoff...we had a layoff of 35 dealers last month and I hear we are laying off again in April.
That way she will get unemployment and not have to pay childcare. The next step is get food stamps and welfare.

Middle class is a form of slavery, because you'll do anything to keep from being poor in my opinion.

My collegues are amazed that I could possibly be happy without a car payment, a mortgage and credit cards.

Bin Laden isn't anything next to Hitler, all he has done so far is bombed a few US assets and went to hide in a cave for the rest of his life. How in the hell is he the next Hitler?

My apologies. I in now way intended to equate "poor" to being enslaved. However, I do believe that when you live without government "assistance" that you are free! I have lived on less than 12k / year and still loved life. Yea I was poor but you couldnt convince me!

As a mother I'm quite sure Obama/Biden are starting a "Zero to Five" Program that is slowly paving the way (working with the states) to a national, voluntary child care for all regardless of income. Not to mention I thought that child care aid was provided by the states themselves?

My friend has one child. She works full time. She was passed a note yesterday from her childcare provider that informed her due to psuedo"president" obama's law that she is no longer eligible for childcare funds and will start paying 200$/week starting monday 16 march.


Not a guess on my part a fact of life of many people that I work with.

I think most liberal socialists are highly educated. In my experience, to say you yourself are socialist in this day and age leaves those around you agast...You find many of them in academia in some of the better schools of economics...
So I don't think such an umbrella statement would be accurate.

A quick heads up... IF you can find a state funded childcare facility it has a waiting list years long.... Not to mention you have to pay the bill UP FRONT then pray they pay you back. Been there done that... they DON"T PAY ONCE YOU HAVE MADE THE PAYMENT.

Fair enough, I understand that I made an umbrella statement, however I just don't understand how, for me, being from America and growing up in these un-easy times (I was born in 1984) how someone could claim to be a "die-hard liberal socialist". I just want to hear about Merigold's mind set so I can try to understand his point of view because to me it is completely irrational. I am open to any belief, view, or what not, but to make a statement like that I just feel like I need more understanding from his/her perspective.

Your friend really can't complain. Why would Obama do anything to childcare for someone who makes such a small amount of money as a single mother? Any kind of federal or state funding for her childcare would, in fact, be "socialist" and a true capitalist would say "Too bad-what a shame they can't afford it..." because in a true capitalist society only the strong survive, you see.

I've been on this earth for 48 years now and my hair is almost silver. I have seen more than most people for god knows why.
I have done handstands on football stadium lights. Jumped off of 3 story buildings ..drunk...and landed in a dumpster full of water. I think alot of people forget socialism is just an economic philosophy...Due to McCarthy-ism and our recent history as I said above it is almost still considered "unpatriotic" to be a socialist.

I suppose if we didn't have that history we wouldn't be programmed to feel that way about it really....

I was using that as an example.

But I'm still waiting for some evidence as to how Obama apparently directly cut her funding for childcare.....

I have always thought that this simple solution would go a long way towards solving the child-care problem:

Take 10 poor/unemployed/underemployed people.

Make 2 of them child-care providers.

Subsidize them to a certain degree, so that the other 8 would pay reasonable amount for child care. Maybe have each pay $75/week. That's $600/week.

Make sense? Wouldn't that work?
