No, but if it will come I wish for it to come soon, so that I may face it in my children's stead.

Honestly, I'm going to have to say yes. I know, it sounds bad, but after the corrupt political and monetary systems in place now fail, then (hopefully) much better and more effective ones will be put into place.

I agree, it's time humans returned to 'survival of the fitest' for a while.

Not survival of the richest.

Absolutely not. Collapse would mean starvation, lawlessness, famine, war, and death on an unprecedented scale. Technological progress would slow to a crawl, or revert. I do not wish to see such a fate bestowed upon any nation, as it's a horrible way to live.

I think it would be an interesting social experiment to find a fairly large island and place some of you guys on it, left completely to your own devices, to form the sort of societies you espouse so highly. I don't think they would turn out as well as you think they would - nor would the living conditions be as tolerable as you think now.

There are such places in the world now which are in such states of collapse... or live in tribal groups... but I see no-one here is moving to those nations or regions to put any sort convictions behind their words.

Survival of the fittest is not an evolutionary term, it's an economic term. So your using it to debase an economic position is laughable.

Do you think natural selection is not still acting upon humanity? Lawl. The only thing that's different is that the environmental selectors have changed a bit.

Burn it all down. Top to bottom. Maybe then this country will worry about the people inside its borders rather than "liberate" and "save" someone elses.

Do I wish it would happen? Damn right. Do I think it will? No chance in hell.

Yes,

Maybe in our darkest hour Man will rise to the occasion and become something more.. It can only really be out of destruction and death that change can occur.

Honestly I do as well, I feel that it would be the great equalizer of all.. Not only would it be exciting, it would be educational.

If natural selection is still acting on humanity, why is our population growing larger and more diluted every year? Economics is part of the reason, if economics fails we are more likely to return to a more 'real' survival of the fittest... survival being the ability to attract a mate, survive long enough, etc.

People are living now longer than ever. Not because they are 'fittest.' Therefore the weak survive long enough to procreate even though they are diluting the gene pool.

Disclaimer:....and color of skin has nothing to do with it.

My honest and blunt answer is a firm NO.

Be careful what you wish for. The collapse of government can be witnessed in many "third world nations" not too far south from where you live and people it is not pretty. The idea of you being subject to gang terror and being too afraid to report to the police, who may or may not help is a reality of some nations. If the government would collapse it may never recover.

I've said this many times over and it needs repeating. The root problem of many problems is government corruption. The U.S. needs to restore its judicial branch and create a MASSIVE organization to stop government corruption and bribery. Lobbyists should NOT exist! Halliburton should have never been allowed to use tax dollars to rebuild Iraq. We shouldn't be defending oil company interests with the DOD. The list is too long but you get the point.

Is it fixable? I don't think it is.

It wouldn't be survival of the fittest. I'll be damned if I sit by while my neighbors and community starve because they have nothing to barter. We will organize in a common purpose, we will win the day for the betterment of all. We have grown accustomed to letting government take care of our issues.

There is only one resource in the world. Humans are the only resource. I'm lucky to live in a semi non populated area (town of about 50k) with ample rivers, lakes, small organic farming, livestock raising, and forests all around. But, without humans being productive it would go to waste.

Yes. Yes I am.

A huge part of me wants all hell to break loose. Mostly because I feel so strongly that in our darkest hour, I will somehow excel at everything. My life will be vastly improved during this period of chaos.

I consider myself a good person. Many who I know also consider me a good person. But when the sh__ hits the fan, I only know that I will emerge victorious. The question on my mind however is who will fail in order for me to succeed.

Now when things get sour, I won't be surprised when the witch-hunt knocks on the doors of those who said yes.

Isn't that how this nation started? I wonder where things went wrong.

This brings up an alternative to crash and burn: Divide this nation in half. The socialist can all move to the USSA half (United Socialist States of America), and the rest can move to the UFSA half (United Free States of America). This sounds like an ideal solution to me. Why can't we try something like that?

THAT is eventually what may need to happen. Any ideas why this would not work? (aside from that fact that the USSA half will begin suffering the day after the freedom folks all pack their bags and move away ...
"Oh no, who is going to take care of us ... whaaaa! Come back, please, come back, we NEED you." )

My guess is if US GUYS all left, it would be those left behind that would be in a world of hurt.

BTW, here is another reason why all this needs to RESET: ALL this DEBT! If each State declares its independence, it can sever itself from all this national debt. If all 50 states bug out from the union, all that debt would be left for the politicians in D.C. to deal with, which is their fault in the first place.

HELL NO!

Why on earth would anyone want that kind of suffering and insanity?

I like electricity, and hot water. I want our country to pop it's head out of it's azz and get back on track. We got enough foreign problems! We need to get back to basics and be the "land of the free and the brave" again.

I don't need a repeat memory of the Holocaust or "live" Madmax. I love my country, my family, my life (enough anyway) and I love myself. I do not want anything bad to happen. I want positive, productive change for the better.

Problem is, there are SO many possibilities of "chaos" bringing disasters all slapping us in the face. I want to live a good life, I want my children to live a good life, I want to die at 100 with my loving family and great grandchildren. I want my children to live even longer, happier, lives.

But I am a realist, I see trouble and it is my duty to protect my family and that includes preparation for damned near anything now.

Interesting. Almost everyone WANTS this to happen.

People are hoping to live in Mad Max, The Postman, Post Apocolyptic world.

Guess that tells you one of two things:

1) How bad things are that people prefer what would come

or

2) How ignorant people are of how bad it would be

I guess my fear of #2 is why I want a more minor collapse. Something to shift humanity. Like burning the underbrush to prevent a catastrophic forest fire.

Then again, I do get why some people say a complete deforestation is needed. Scary

I fully agree with you. However I answered yes to the question while you answered "Hell no".

I guess in a way I prescribe to the theory that one has to hit rock bottom before they can improve. I don't want bad things to happen but I feel a combination of collapse and chaos can have a positive, productive change for the better.

Absolutely not. Many of us will die of starvation, many by bullets to the head or mortars through the air. Mothers and Father's will mourn the loss of their children and disease will plaque us all. Society will degrade beyond our wildest imaginations as those incapable of adapting realize their fate and those who are prepared will have to deal with affecting a death blow to those who threaten their security.

Saddly it looks to me that we have no choice and I will be ready to defend mine as well as Help others should I survive.

Sounds to me like a whole lot of people want to kill the government-

Yet these same people fail to recognize the amount of power that is exerted by the private sector. Same people fail to see the absolute criminality that has been perpetrated by these non government entities. Like it or not the root of this current disaster is the lack of accountability by the main sectors who created false PAPER thru the creation of derivatives...etc... etc.... etc...

You kill the government and THEY will be your new masters... Addressing one side of the issue like I see here is absolutely short sighted. IF the government is gone, you will be so tyrannized it will make your head spin

and you CANNOT vote out...

You want to sink the stinking ship but forget about the pirates and the ocean we are adrift on...

My question is what is the average age of the people who wish for such misery? Have you worked for over 25 years to build up a good life, assets and savings to live on in your older age? Have you carefully planned for your children's post-school education and even planned to leave them a few bucks when you die? Well if you had done the previously mentioned things AND played by the rules you would be as mad as hell and appalled as I am at where our country is today.

Back when I was in my twenties if this situation had occurred and I'd had access to the internet I believe that I might have thought this could be a cool thing to live through. Now? No way. I did what I had to do and made a life for myself; hell, I even had children when back then I swore I'd never have any. If I'd known how things would turn out and if indeed things get as bad as lots of you hope they do I'd have never brought innocent souls into this world.

One further question: do you all who long for chaos and poverty even give a minute's thought to your parents or grandparents? Do they deserve to spend their final years living in a war-torn third world existence? If you say yes I pity you.

Yes, I am hoping it happens. The ones who will suffer are the people who allowed it all to get this far. They are the ones who were busy shopping for plasma televisions, while the minority, powerless through their small numbers, prepared themselves. The shopping mall addicted dependents, the sheeple will be the first to go. Sorry, Darwin in action.
