It is interesting to note that an informal survey of Middle Eastern vs. USA students on this particular campus by a visiting student reporter indicated that the US gals thought it was immoral to cheat on exams but ok to have premarital sex whereas the stats were almost exactly reversed for the Middle Eastern students who thought it immoral to have premarital sex but condoned cheating on exams!

if one of the saudi princesses had any guts they'd stand up and offer to take this women's punishment in her place, just to make a statement...

the whole idea is based on the concept that women should always have a male relative to take care of them. well, in afghanistan, most of the male relatives were either decimated in their many, many wars, or were forcibly drafted at a rediculous age....many of the women had no male relatives, so they were degraded down to being beggars, when that become to uncomfortable to the taliban, they were told to go home and cover their windows in black!

this lady was over 70 years old...maybe she outlived all the male relatives....had no one to take care of her. and, it's not like she's able to hop into her car and take a drive to the store, now, is it? nor is it likely any of the women folk in the area are gonna hop in their car and run her a loaf of bread, some milk, whatever. nope, guess she is just susposed to starve waiting on god to come by with the food!
