wasn't the economy better in the 90's? I was so naive then. All I cared about was playing my geetar and touring San Antonio. Haha!

Jeez....apathy and depression have been an essential part of the UK psyche since the end of WWII at least
Has it gotten worse recently? I dunno. I spent some time in the UK in the 1990's myself - and they didn't seem particularily cheerful then either...

the 90's were a time when things were affordable. rent was cheap, home ownership was cheap, etc. that's why everyone was so happy.

from 1994 to 1999 we watched the rent upstairs go from $360 to $1200. a month.
modest victorian on capitol hill, denver, co. (1 bath, 3 room)

also in my industry, (design/creative) there was a hay day happening. money was being spent on advertising and promoting business. (the old standard when the economy took a spill - advertise. tried and trued)

so i guess perspective will vary from different stand points, but from ours, that's why it was good.

also the music scene went through huge evolutional changes that made some good waves.
