I like to watch weather patterns or cloud formations at high speed. I'm able to see patterns and trends that I would'nt be able to see at normal speed. Watching time lapse photography of the night sky also offers an amazing perspective.

Can anyone describe the evolution of the human race from early human until the present? What are we doing as a race? I know there is plenty of room for sarcasim here but I really am trying to wrap my head around this one.

Transportation and recent leaps in communications are causing huge changes. Wealth, politics, and greed are certainly having a big effect.

What are humans becomming? Can you think of any parallels in nature?

i cant really think of anything other then dominant traits in genes. we are slowly becoming greys. hence the reason i beleive the greys are from our own future.

baldness -- - - on a long enough time line the entire planet (male) will be bald.

height - - woman are becoming sexually mature at a younger and younger rate, stunted growth will occur.

frail bodies? space exploration

i dunno im just rambling hahha.

It's hard to look at nature for a perspective of the current course humans are taking regarding evolution because we have largely attempted to divorce nature through technology. What happens to a resourceful bird when confronted with untypically averse weather patterns? he adapts. What happens to people who willfully spend 8 hours a day in front of a screen, take pills that distort normal brain functioning, and eat artificial food packaged in plastic? I honestly don't know. Could be the very definition of what it is to be human is changing as we continuously manipulate ourselves and our environment or there could eventually be some massive destruction and rebirth where we are forced to reconcile with our natural tendencies/images and possibly evolve.

beasts > scum > murderers.

Thats evolution for you.

History of human race is just one of beasts, so what else do you need?

Women are getting physically stronger, exponentially, compared to the rate of strength gains in men.

That is a fantastic mental exercise you propose there Mike , its just that it is such an expansive subject .......
i`ll just chew on a few pieces around the edges .

I suppose its incorrect to regard the "advance" of mankind as a steady progression, it would appear to of consisted of a series of fits and starts , with a few serious moments for the fate of our species along the way. Of course all these near fatal occurrences meant the the smartest most resourceful humans survived ... to the benefit of the gene pool.

From nomadisism to a form of agriculture ...... food surpluses = standing armies / merchants / buracrats / artisans ..... Trade / law etc etc.

Commerce /War ..innovation ...etc etc

My clumsy miss mash doesn`t even come close to it , leaving out the best part of a 1000 years

modern mankind

We are becoming over specialised , which is dangerous for any species .
And the interventions of modern technology in health/science etc are high energy /etc. with a large technical requirement to /design/ build / maintain & operate .

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology. C.Sagan.

People are getting taller with each new generation. But I have also wondered about that too, alien really being from the future.

The next evolution of homo sapien will be married with some sort of Artificial Intelligence. For a natural biological change to occur, there would have to be an event that separated humans into groups and formed geographic barriers. Also, this same event would also have to leave us inept from a technological standpoint. Adaptation is what pushes evolution, and our technological capabilities have given us the power to withstand the majority of environments and situation "x's" on this planet.

Of course, theoretically there are certain circumstances in which nature could select for certain traits and you might get a new species of homo; however, this would take such a long time that we're more likely to experience an E.L.E or the rise of AI.

Then again that could all be wrong. Honestly, who the hell knows man!

Granted - this is just the dominant paradigm.

I'm sure there are a few offshoots that might evolve on a different timeline.

Technology is just a thin veneer on, tribal, brutal, ego driven savages.
If a cataclysmic event occurred and the infrastructure disintegrated; survival of the fittest mode would kick in in a matter of weeks after the initial shock had worn off and reality set in.

In the grand scheme of things only some people have evolved; the vast majority are closer to savages that have the ability to use tools but conceptualize very little.

It's a brave new world, welcome to the monkey house.

OK< several people have mentioned female changes. I haven't read all the posts so I'm sorry if someone mentioned this, but it makes sense that these changes are occurring because of the hormones given to animals to make them ready for the slaughterhouse faster.

You really don't understand the meaning of survival of the fittest from an evolutionary perspective.

Plus, depending on the level of the event, it's not like people would forget how to do things. I mean, it would take a near extinction level event to push people back to a more primitive state.

Perhaps, but if the grid went down and food distribution stopped what do you think people would do? Become hippies and start farming communes? I'm putting my money on chaos, anarchy and everyman for himself. At least I hope so....

I don't think anyone can accurately say to what extent technology has infested humans. Yeah, you get Oprah and a couple doctors on tv talking about how video games and the internet reduce kids' communication abilities in social settings but I'm of the opinion that it goes much deeper than this. So deep in fact that I would not be surprised if the survival of the fittest instinct in many has been perverted to apply solely to material well-being, security, and comfort. We've been softened and divorced from our natural instincts and desires to an incredible extent. We're sensitive to things we shouldn't be sensitive to and hardened to things we should be more intuitive about.

Respectfully, when was the last time you were in the ghetto or on the really poor side of town? Survival of the fittest is in your face.

Survival of the fittest is defined as whether or not an organism is capable of producing offspring, and if so, how many offspring they produce. It is not an instinct.

Thank you for the welcome.

"Respectfully, when was the last time you were in the ghetto or on the really poor side of town? Survival of the fittest is in your face."

Yes, I see it every day. What I see is kids with inflated egos who have grown up with no father have the desire to 'come up' in this world so they kill and steal, no conscience, no regrets. I've heard of 15 year old kids being sent to prison for murder. They think guns are literal extensions of their pure masculinity. They love rap, they want to be as tough as the rappers who have made it big by 'any means necessary'. People in homeless shelters not because they don't have money, but have no motivation to find a better place and because they rent a hotel room on a friday, blow 300 dollars in one night on drugs and alcohol and end up broke with nowhere to go. Maybe that all seems like survival of the fittest to you but to me it's a very perverted form of what is natural. In this world those strongest and most equipped naturally to survive are the first one's to die. When you have a world built upon the social struggle for money the one's who win will always be the mediocre, those who, in nature, would be least likely to survive.
