Well i was in teh back yard smoking and a animal run right in front of me it was about the size of half a fully grown cat and had a thick black tail any idea

Maybe it is an Indian Civet Cat. Can you give a better description and tell where you are? Any zoo's nearby?

Well i would say that it was an angry small cat....!!

But seriously, going by your discription it could be just about anything. Maybe some more detail or a google search for something similar??

Yeah, you need to elaborate a tad bit more.

It does sound like a frightened kitty, their tales puff up when they are threatened or frightened.

Well depending on your area it sounds very much like a black squirell. We get them around here.
