Personally I have no issues with rebuffing the British, it's largely a nation of cynical hypocrites who regard the US as an object of derision and ridicule.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as I know nobody here ridicules the US! Don't know where you got that one from? However, we have had more than a good laugh at the antics of your last president who, I believe, was total ars**ole. . .
As for us Brits being a nation of hypocrites- what does that make America? Everytime the SHTF the first nation you turn to for help, or at least advice, is the UK. Even when the rest of our European partners refuse to support the US we always, always, back you up and support you. As far as I'm aware, there's nothing hypocritical in that, is there?

This is a great point you make. I would almost wager that I could go back and go through the thread on Obama's Wednesday Night Parties and find the same people here complaining about what he did there.
Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. It hasn't been even 2 months yet. The hypocrisy is staggering.

When he spends money on trivial stuff, they gripe. When he doesn't spend money on trivial stuff, they gripe.

And like I said before, what if he's pissed at Brown? ... for whatever reason.
Allies can come and go, you know?
