Saddam Hussein said it best, he said western civilization's downfall is hollywood. It's to the point where I wish I didn't live in todays time with TV and these mf sports stars. It's litterally sickening, I get a bad case of diarhea every superbowl sunday...

And that isn't the end of my rant- but it is for now. I'd give anything for a pure, simple, plain woman with morals, standards, and isn't tainted by Hollywood and the media.

Good luck brotha, let me know if she has a sister

I'm in the same boat as the OP, even down to the ridiculous "news" that they try to pass off about our own leaders.

"What kind of puppy will Obama buy for his girls now that he's in the white house?"

"What school will the Obama girls be attending?"

"Obama girls first day at school"

"Obama's wife reveals secrets to staying in shape"

I'm here to say WHO GIVES A FLYING F**K?!? There are much more important news out there and this garbage is what the media chooses to pass off as "news"? When you look at these headlines, you can't help but think that the media is purposefully trying to distract the population from REAL issues, such as the economy tanking, high unemployment etc. etc.

People idolize them because it gives them an escape from their reality. They want to fantasize what if it was them that was that rich.

It's pathetic.

On the flipside there are some who'd sell their own mothers to be rich, idolized and be other peoples' fantasy. this is also a way of escaping reality as even when they've achieved this it's hollow as their self worth depends on how others value them.

I don't think all celebs are like this. I just get annoyed that this celeb worship culture has gotten so bad that 20 year olds women are now having botox, liposuction and throwing up every meal just so they can look like the parodical airbrushed mag covers.

Amen to that sir. I have purposefully removed the cable from my TV for months now so I can't be distracted by stupid gossip shows. I still buy and watch movies, but not unless it's something I really want to see. I plan on indoctrinating any future children of mine the same way... in fact will be following my grandmothers footsteps. Which was to have little (1 hour a day tops) to NO TV at all.

BAH HUMBUG

while I agree 100% that those that live vicariously through the lives of others are nit wits

and also agree that the msm has become at best a joke

It has always been and always will be like this and it's the same everywhere

There would never have been ROYALTY if most people weren't followers.

This just comes down to the old simple fact 90% of people are Sheep and followers, all Hollywood does is give easy access....

But before Hollywood, there was always that One tribal Leader who all the guys kissed ass for who got all the women (even yours)

Frankly

I'm glad footballs on the tele

Because if not there would be some game on my block every Sunday and all the dimwits in the neighborhood would Idolize that jerkoff ... which is Much worse, because I'd have to deal with that person in RL and... i'm not one to jock anyone

It would be... Just like HS

Which is the perfect example of life without the media... same o, same o

So I disagree with this whole post...

It's about who YOU are, IF your out to be a DOER, you will look at these people and EMULATE and LEARN... not just watch...

It would be worthy to have around for inspiration

(and i'd say quoting Saddam Hussein on anything is a stretch as well)

I see someone who's great in a field I have an interest in, I don't live vicariously, I ABSORB...and DO or I DON'T WATCH

what I'm hearing in here

Is, the peple who do Watch and RESENT

and that's worse than the people who live vicariously, because they acknowledge they are morons on a level and enjoy their feeble entertainments

But, all this anger... it's

"I watch and Don't believe I can Do but would like to so I HATE"

Incredibly Negative

I resent the effect some of them have on maintream culture. 8 years olds are getting now getting treated for anorexia. If people want to be worshipped by teenage girls thats fine but it'd be nice if they took some responsibility as role models.

edit. It's also a real waste of power just treating fans like cash cows. If you want them to emmulate you do things worth emmulating rather than unoriginal flashing your new brazilian for the camera. there are enough pornbots in the world already.

sounds like your WATCHING and being led right along...

8 year olds with Anorexia...

you know that's what the news does, it finds the ONE or TWO idiots that do something and put it on the news and then people change opinions and believe things that aren't even happening in any relevant way

How many 8 year olds have anorexia lol, I have kids that age, I never met one...

Most humans idolize the rich and famous because most people want to be rich and/or famous themselves. Seriously, is this thread for real?

What? sounds like you're just hunting for people to abuse. you make alot of assumptions about why people are posting.

8 year olds with Anorexia...

They exist.. thats what happens when society encourages children to diet.

You assume I only get my information off the news? just because YOU have not met one doesn't mean they don't exist.

Comma's are your friend, friend.

When I read the original post I had to imagine someone speaking really fast and not pausing to breathe until the end of a sentence.

I agree with the premise of the OP. It disturbs me to see how people idolize other humans who eat, sleep, and poop just like everybody else.

Somewhere in the world there is surely a man who masturbates with a cheese grater...

It doesn't mean it's a problem, but if we put it on the news, parents everywhere would be up in arms hiding the cheese graters

There just...

will always be idiots, lots of them

and no, I am not looking to bash anyone, unless the IQ falls below a certain level on my radar then it's open season

No one is to blame... Hollywood doesn't make a bit of difference, in fact... I don't even have cable

People CHOOSE who they are...

same people with Tv off would follow some guy up the block, always have, always will... it's some damn primate group leader dominance crap

If you were above it... as many of us are, it wouldn't disturb you

The kid who lights his house on fire because of bevis and butthead is Evolution doing it's job and nothing more.

I mean really... you just proved the point of the OP in a way

You read some junk or watch some crap on tv

and your up in arms about...

8 year old anorexics

I assure you it is not now or never will be a real problem...no matter who reports it.

IT just proves SOMEWHERE there is a really vacant parent with a kid who should be in special ed...

8 year old as stupid as parents; News at 11:00 lol

OP
Admiration brings popularity
popularity brings fame
fame brings money (from the media mostly)

So it doesnt matter who we admire they are gonna be rich and famous
unless you are saying we should stop admiring them once they get rich?

But I am all for more admiring of scientists, researchers doctors and the likes, at least they contribute positively to our society.

okay. point taken.. but you speak as though the guy masturbating with a cheese grater (thanks for the visuals) is a random phenonemon. If someone put that on youtube it would get alot of views and guess what? there would then be an army of men masturbating with cheese graters trying to get lots of views. Some leaders bring the best out in the followers.. some bring out the worst but we ALL have to pay for it.

and no, I am not looking to bash anyone, unless the IQ falls below a certain level on my radar then it's open season

No one is to blame... Hollywood doesn't make a bit of difference, in fact... I don't even have cable

People CHOOSE who they are...

Kids can't really choose not to see those mags on supermarket shelves. While I agree adults have to own their own bs.. children do get influenced by it. Why should a teenage girl feel bad about not being under weight? It's not even about leading/following at that point.. it's about fitting in. The silly things that one "star" does is emmulated, it becomes a trend and whoever doesn't follow it has to account for why. Yes it's silly, shallow and trivial and kids have a choice but school yard politics isn't exactly open to reason.

same people with Tv off would follow some guy up the block, always have, always will... it's some damn primate group leader dominance crap

If you were above it... as many of us are, it wouldn't disturb you

I care about where society is headed and how kids are influenced. I also don't like being treated as abnormal just because I manage to be attractive and have a brain at the same time. You can moan about being "above" such things but that doesn't change the fact that stereotypes effect how people are treated; unless you are a hermit living disconnected from anyone and everything there's no way of avoiding society's intolerence to anything not sanctioned by the media.

The kid who lights his house on fire because of bevis and butthead is Evolution doing it's job and nothing more.

What if the neighbours don't watch beavis and butthead yet their house catches fire as well? Just ignoring the fire won't make it go out.

It is all brainless superficial bovine feces.

No value to humanity and why billions of dollars are spent on this each year is beyond me.

My Mrs use to by some of the crap but we agreed to divert the money spent on the useless print media to charity. Imagine if everyone did that just for one year....

No I really do agree with looking up top people because of what they have done or doing but5 it’s just annoying to see some people doing it just because they are famous o rich I mean as a whole we have got our priorities really messed up.

We idolize these people not for what they have done like we really should I mean look at reality TV those people get famous as hell but for what look at big brother they get famous for sitting around a house all day talking.

I had JUST BEEN THINKING last week about how someone should do a series called
lifestyles of the rich and infamous!

If we had more people reading and acting on the info in books published by TrineDay.com, about 22 books at this point, there would be major outrage in this country as to what really got us into the predicament in which we find ourselves.
And maybe we would stop being hypnotized by the boob tube and media sound bites
that titillate but do not raise our consciousness and ability to change the predominant
paradigm.

If we started to read again, then maybe there would be real changes in the media and political circles because WE DEMAND THESE CHANGES!

We are so dumbed down in this society.
YET we have the world at out fingertips...

Just a few titles available from my fave publisher: TrineDay.com -
(I have heard several of their authors speak on book tours)

~~ PEFECTIBILISTS: the 18th Century order of the Illuminati

~~ Rigorous Intuition: what You Don't Know Cant Hurt them

~~ The Oil Card: Global Economic Warfare in the 21st Century

~~ The TRUE STORY of the Bilderberg Group

ONE OF MY FAVES: (if you have seen the LOVE STORY, 3rd part of the
HISTORY CHANNEL THE MEN WHO KILLED KENNEDY SERIES
about Judyth Vary Baker, paramour of Lee Harvey Oswald, you will especially be enlightened after reading this nest fascinating volume) --

~~ Dr. Mary's Monkey:
How the Unsolved Murder of a Doctor, a Secret Laboratory in New Orleans and Cancer-Causing Monkey Viruses are Linked to Lee Harvey Oswald, the JFK Assassination and Emerging Global Epidemics

The 1964 murder of a nationally known cancer researcher sets the stage for this gripping exposé of medical professionals enmeshed in covert government operations over the course of three decades. Following a trail of police records, FBI files, cancer statistics, and medical journals, this revealing book presents evidence of a web of medical secret-keeping that began with the handling of evidence in the JFK assassination and continued apace, sweeping doctors into coverups of cancer outbreaks, contaminated polio vaccine, the arrival of the AIDS virus, and biological weapon research using infected monkeys.

~~ Fighting for G.O.D. (Gold, Oil and Drugs) this is the only one that is a comic book

SEE TrineDay.com for other books on Skull and Bones, Octopus Conspiracy, Mohamed Atta, and the rest of the story of modern industrial society (about to become post industrial?).

NONE of this stuff did I learn in my seven years of advanced education!

Okay, fair enough. Everyone is coming down hard on 'today's crop of various media celebrities'. Or, as the immortal Bill Hicks might quip: Those suckers of Satan's ****. This is well and good.

But remember. There ARE great people out there.

They make great movies.
They make great music.
They write great books.

The world would be a darker place without these cats.

I, for one, don't idolize the rich and famous. It looks like a very lonely lifestyle.

If I had their money, I would put it to good use rather than spending it on a lavish lifestyle.

I would invest in helping the homeless, war victims, and other good causes.
