Rocket Aims For Cheaper Nudges In Space; Plasma Thruster Is Small, Runs On Inexpensive Gases

ScienceDaily (Mar. 5, 2009) — Satellites orbiting the Earth must occasionally be nudged to stay on the correct path. MIT scientists are developing a new rocket that could make this and other spacecraft maneuvers much less costly, a consideration of growing importance as more private companies start working in space.

Plasma engines here we go. These will be the next generation of space propellants. Soon-after we'll be using magnetics.
