This has probably been posted before, but I think it is kind of interesting to ponder on. Around October 2012, the earth's population will cross the 7 billion count. Just sticking it in there since 7 is a lucky number

Another take on 2012 that may or may not be a coincidence:

The Black Death began in 1346. That was by far the largest cause of collective death in human history, in fact some could say it was the first and only 'culling' of the human species.


The total number of deaths worldwide is estimated at 75 million people, approximately 25–50 million of which occurred in Europe. The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30% to 60% of Europe's population. It may have reduced the world's population from an estimated 450 million to between 350 and 375 million in 1400.

2012 is rumored to be another event - a mass culling or extinction event perhaps.

2012 occurs exactly 666 later. That's something I realized late last year while researching the plague.
