life...

life is not a dream, its real
no matter how hard you try
the shade has been drawn
illuminated now, openly displayed
your indifference finally betrayed

the sightless meandering
through the pages of time..
seeker of nothing, lost in your prime
your footsteps have faded
and you thought you had made it

splintered reality, screaming out at you
your worst nightmare construed
flooding through your mind
the doorways of a thousand days
so much wasted, so much pain

I've watched the change in you
overcome, infused with the new
shedding the skin of your past
you moved, a limited view
for it could never last
life is a dream...
breathe...

"INTO DUST"

SOMBER STATUES CARVED OF MEMORY
WASH REMORSEFULLY AWAY INTO THE RAIN
THAT FALLS LIKE TEARS ONTO MY WEEPING FACE
AS I LET HER BODY SLIP FROM MY ARMS
INTO THE WET GRASS
A ROSE UPON HER CHEST
A KISS UPON HER LIPS
I WALK WITH DESOLATION
THROUGH THIS WITHERED GARDEN
MY HOPE DRAINED AWAY
INTO THE STERILE EARTH
WHISPERS OF LOST PARADISE
FALL ABOUT AT MY FEET
ONLY STAGNANT WATER
WITHIN A CRUMBLED FOUNTAIN
REMAINS TO QUENCH MY THIRST
HER VOICE, SINGING IN THE DISTANCE
BEGINS TO FADE
DANCING AWAY WITH THE THUNDER.

Pinned to a sphere circling a torch,
in the satin vacuum I reach back
With a minds-eye blinded with pain
and dilated with darkness,
To us circling like two dead leaves,
waltzing in the air above a deserted street,
As blind viewers watch us with eyes
full of envy and silently scream their disapproval.

Further I go and see the blue sky,
as we Challenge the stars and are found wanting,
Because of the cold and a cheap gasket.
Later that decade a French musician in pink,
plays electricity into the Texas night as he stands,
In front of a building covered with a president from Massachusetts,
Who states "We choose to go to the moon in this decade
and do the other things, not because they are easy
but because they are hard"

I am now at the point where looking back,
is a longer road that moving forward.
As I stand at the side street and think on how to move
i look around and see stagnation and loss of achievement.
I lurch forward along the haphazard road,
and no longer look back, not because it is hard
but because it is easy.

Fresh fish, brown rice;
Sports whispered on the tele.
Warm chest rise, warm chest fall.
Gentle rain kissed
Eternal spring.

WHEN


When old people were something to be respected, not mocked
When kids played outside and didn't consider this to be exercise
When there was a sense of community spirit, not alienation
When people understood the value of saving money to buy something

When apathy was considered a foreign term and concept
When patriotism and national pride were separate from racism
When your bank manager knew your name and family well
When people clubbed together for a common cause or goal

When will this be the way and desire of the world again?
When will people understand that they have the answers within?

Pain is an itch,I scratch alone.

“Remember”

Do I remember those times of Wonderful Bliss?
I close my eyes …. and reminisce ……
Simple days filled with innocence so pure,
Dead didn’t exist, a mother’s kiss was the cure.

In lavender skies were endless parades,
Of weird figures, odd shapes and lots of shades.
Sunlight broke through in a zillion reflections,
Exploding rainbow colors, spreading affections.

Green meadows with silvery daisies and flaming tulips,
I just laid there on my back, you kissed my lips.
No sounds, other then heartbeats and whispering air,
Yes, I remember that foolish love as was I still there.

Toffees, jawbreakers, enough to go around
bare feet were covered in dust
of a junkyard that was a playground
where broken cars covered in rust,
were rocketships
racing across space with atom and death-ray
and the trucks were battleships
sailing till the last light of each glorious day
sailing till shadows stretched out
and eventually racing home terrified
too afraid to speak, to exhilirated to shout
once again darkness defied.
Oh, brave boys soon to be dead
short years later the call would come,
the call that all parents dread
and they would march march march to a real drum.

number two...

Cowboy...

once I had this lasso... so big, it roped the world
reaching all around it...menacing and curled
pulling like a madman...straining every bone
finally I had it, finally all my own...
joyfully I pranced and danced all about
flippant celebration...all without a doubt
everything would be new again...we would finally have our peace
but, then I heard the crying, the tears and then the screams...
wanton waste, pollution, their wars and then disease
the killing of the innocents..the slaughtering of the trees
all these things assaulting me....assailing all my senses
spiraling all around me and weakening my defenses
this world is all f***** up you see.. so spare me your pretenses
these things were just to much for me...as I fell upon my knees
this job was just to big for me... I cried out for the trees
ask forgiveness sparingly...be prepared to clean your plate
she decides your fate for you, but you control the hate...
these things you think you want, were never really yours..
hanging there in front of us...like sparkling little lures..
be careful what you pull upon, be mindful of your desire
someday you may ask for it and find yourself on fire...

I sat on the hill
behind the store
to feel the breeze that comes in Fall
to see if it would be the same.

Same setting, same setting sun
away from the world, and worlds away.
I waited for nothing and everything,
wond’ring, when the feeling came
that stirred the depths and brought the scents of evenings
days and nights we spent
watching
and listening
and thinking
of nothing.

We weren’t wasting time then,
we were living.
And making our own time,
and everything.
We had nothing,
we had it all.

The burger stand has gone
the way of progress I suppose.
The store below the hill
remains, as an anchor
for those days.
They’re still there
fixed in time
when we were young
and you were mine.

Upon my mirror I look at the man staring back at me.
Who is this face, woeful, wrinkled, and worn?
The eyes, the only remnants of my childhood I can see.

Gone the days of playful fits of fancy and dreams without end.
A man crushed by reality now peers in this glass.
A broken heart time and booze can no longer mend.

A stone, cold, dead, lifeless void.
My heart beats empty to a loss to heavy to bear.
Love, the emotion my life will forever be devoid.

In this mirror I peer, waiting for an answer.
Gone the days of joy, gone those days of love.
Bitterness and hatred eat me up like cancer.

My eyes close, I dream of long lost days.
Of love and joy and those small tenderness's.
I await death and only to him I will now praise.

To the ground I await the respite to this pain.
The cold solitude of the grave my hope.
Years past, to painful to relive, impossible to attain.

The man sits alone, thinking, in a small room
Society is crumbling, heading for doom

Mind is racing, engulfed by devastation
Shattering his heart and soul
Truth becomes hidden by man's creation

No escape, from what will become
The powers that be, seem to have won

Reality bound by laws and rules
People misled by those they trust
Only to be labeled as absolute fools

Overwhelming sense of strength and hope
Man will not be held back, by any steep slope

Materialistic nature of man will die
Truth lost, again will be found
The mind will learn again, to truly fly

History teaches us how society should be
Bars are removed, the mind is open, and set free

Now the man's mind begins to slow
Time moves back into conceivable perception
Comfort is felt, knowing man will grow

Being the subject of true evolution
Clearing the mind of any pollution

Learning to Swim-A True Story

I was learning to swim,
At the age of eight,
Back in the summer of '68.

The water was clear,
I didn't think I was ready,
Mother reassured, and kept me steady.

The old castle had fallen,
The water it's moat.
Would I be able to stay afloat.

A fortnight we stayed,
In Wales on holiday.
In a Roman home made of stone and hay.

I finally jumped in,
With inflatable swimmers.
And closed my eyes to the waters glimmers.

Afraid at first,
I splashed about.
Trying to be brave and not shout.

Mother stands close,
And my sisters cheer.
The other shore didn't seem so near.

I kept on trying,
And stayed in the water.
Wanting to swim, the youngest daughter.

The moat and me,
All through the day.
And by sundown......I was swimming away.

TISK TISK" TISK TISK"

Smell the warm summer rain while the sun
still shines

Skipping through ankle deep puddles
thinking every things fine

Wandering within the woods follow the
brook

The longest walk ever we thought we
took

25 cent popcorn I saved all my pennies

Dad, I am going to the movies
with my bestest friend Jenny

Project is due, Mom I passed all my tests

Wow the weekend is here no time to
rest

Rocking chairs, lawn mowers and Black Label beer

Hurry blankets on the front lawn
lightning bugs are here

My friends and I with all our jars

We'd lay on our backs and count the
stars

Sneak a ripe tomato from the vine
a shaker of salt

Nana never new it was ever
my fault

A fish on my hook

and the time that it took

Us all at the seashore I once
again wish

The smell of copper tone my first kiss

Sadly those days long gone
they will be missed

So for now all I can say is

TISK TISK TISK TISK

Saturday afternoon car rides,
Wisp of hair tickling my cheek.
Sitting in the back of the station wagon,
Holding the baby on my lap.
Sharing sips of an RC Cola,
Baby needs a diaper change.

Fresh cloth diapers peeking from the bag,
Smell of sunshine still holds on to their threads.
Wet diaper wadded in the old bread bag,
Baby powder cloud flowing through the open back _

Bells ring as Daddy pulls into the gas station.
The young man fills the tank,
He checks the oil and cleans the windshield.
Mama hands Daddy a five,
The young man winks at me as he gives Daddy the change.

Blushing,
I hold my baby brother tighter.
My face as hot as the sun,
Shining through clean windows.

Sunset Beach Island



On Summer's day, it visited me,
It woke my mind in wonder, Giving me
Soft settle memoirs of my visit's at Sunset Beach.
I have not notice that Sunset was being seduce by the ocean's waves
Has I mediate, siting on the shore, looking out
22 miles away to the horizon.

Waking up from the heated morning sky, I fear Farewell to one
I had loved so long. Her breath is effortless to me now.
As I pile in a stack of my belongings I felt a memoir,
Remembering her current shoreline waves. They looked as
Though they had curves in every direction.

She was ready, I was not, Though one last goodbye
Moved me. It was her breath of water that
Hit my face. I turned once again away,
Never looking back, for she only rest
Now...only remains in my memoirs.

Freedom in the Sky

Born into bondage; a generation chained
We live in servitude to the power structures laid.
You must obey the ruling system, which they say is ‘necessary’
Or refusal swiftly lands you in a penitentiary.

Ever since the Ancient Pharaohs, and the carvings in the stone,
There has always been a ladder from the pits up to the throne,
It must be known that there’s no difference, in the way we live today,
We’ve paved the past into the present, and now the future is their stage.

In this new age, the illusion breaks for the sake of reconstruction
The final phase initiates the day we all receive instruction.
The people’s weapons confiscated, to kill all chances of defense
Identikits and chips installed, with ‘War on Terror’ as the pre-tense.

Then amendments shall be made, and Martial Law set in motion,
They’re renovating camps in preparation for commotion,
And then the wave of revolt shall ride and crash and burn and die,
And all besides the paralyzed will find their freedom in the sky.
