Global new deal ????
Why can not they just say "Global New Order". It would really sound more important and certainly give us more to talk about such discussions.
Good thread.
I suspect a couple of reason. Mainly the same way Obama brings up *ahem* "Honest" Abe Lincoln at every opportunity. This is a political tool that
has been utilised for centuries.
You draw a parallel between yourself and an age/figure past that everyone regards with reverence, pride and respect. Then the analogy is drawn between
the past and the present.
"You must like what we're doing NOW, because we did it back THEN and all of you NOW believe that what happened THEN was the best thing to happen to
us."
The "New Deal" is the same thing. Incidentally, the U.K. employment service introduced their own New Deal scheme for the unemployed years ago. It
wasn't long before even the civil servants referred to it as "Raw Deal"
The Global Raw Deal. You heard it here first.
