Reasons I love Canada:

1) Beer
2) Swearing and nudity on network TV at 8pm
3) No War On Drugs (soon to decriminalize pot)
4) Very little violence in Canadian soceity (and yet we get the same TV stations as the States and have a similar amount of firearms)
5) Going to Europe and having people buy you drinks because they "love all you Canadians"
6) Bilingualism
7) Multi-culturalism
8) Beer
9) We don't base our self-image on other country's opinions of us
10) The natural, unspoiled beauty of much of this country

Canadians are actually pretty reserved in their patriotism. We don't go around shouting "CA-NA-DA!" and waving our flags like mad. We sing our national anthem reverently and we pretty much shut our mouths and sit down. (I personally think those who boo the US national anthem are arseholes.)

And what is Canada known MOST for in the world? HOCKEY. I mean how frickin sweet is that? We're known predominantly for a SPORT. Not a food, not a place, not a war, not a person, a freakin SPORT.

But the thing I love the most about Canada is how people are friendly as hell but they also mind their own business.

Gays wanna get married? Sure, whatever, it's not going to bring civilization to a shrieking halt, so go for it. Women want legalized abortion? Ok, sounds reasonable.

There is very little "moral outrage" from the public up here. I must have seen the Janet Jackson boobie clip from the Superbowl about 5 or 6 times on the Canadian news, unedited and with the newscasters laughing about it.

I love that.

Oh did I mention the beer?

I'm a Canadian, I live in my igloo, listening to Anne Murray, waiting for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to deliver my weekly supply of beer. And, YES, I play hockey, throw curling stones on occasion.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I really think the problem with Canada is relatively small - it's called Quebec. The problem is they are just so French wannabees that it just makes you sick. Canada is a great country except for Quebec where they don't even want to be Canadian. That's really the sum of the problem. I live in metro Detroit. I love Windsor eh! The casinos, the Windsor Ballet eh, the Royal Canadian Dance Troupe eh. Great time eh. and talk about culture (as if we haven't already
), how about that well dressed man - Don Cherry!

No I really do like Canada - it's just that Quebec thing.

I am a Canadian and went to school for five years in the US. I am likely going to be moving back there soon. I can say that both countries tend to harass each other. In the presence of Americans I find myself defending Canada and when among Canadians I stick up for the Americans. I hate the gross generalizations that both countries make about the other. I would say that both countries are guilty of this. Previous to the conflict in Iraq the good natured ribbing was always somewhat lighthearted, it bothers me now that it has turned much more malicious in the last year.

Perhaps the Canadians should read an article from Macleans entitled "The Know-it-all Neighbour"
www.macleans.ca...
Americans may also enjoy it.

no one in america really hates canada its just that your a bunch of wimps and we like to make fun of you. your not special america makes fun of lots of countries. including but not limited to Mexico, France, Britain, and nazi's.

now i know nazi's isnt a country but they are damn funny to make fun of.

As you have said American's are arrogant sons of bitches. You talk like this is a bad thing? if we werent arrogant you know what we would be? canadians. then we would get made fun of.

canada has less crime because they have less people living there and less of a cultural mixing pot. not to say their population isnt mixed.

also another factor would be that the they are more spread out in certian areas producing less crime in those areas in general.

lets look at a few facts i looked up.

(rounded for convienence)
Americas population = 300,000,000
Canada's population = 30,000,000

non white in USA = 100,000,000
non white living in canada = 1,000,000

so americas minorities percentage is 25% of its total population while canada's is only 1%. in fact the population of african americans is greater than that of canadas total population.

also maybe we have more crime because we are generally as americans more rebellious. we had the balls to leave britain and you guys didnt.

Ok heres the deal

I know why The USA hates Canada

We were both funded by the British. the British always liked us more (in other words we were the favorite son)

1812 you came up hear to start something and we kicked your A$$. Defended our selves then went all the way down To Washington and burned down the white house (it was only painted white to cover up the damage)
But we dont keep shoving that in your face. We dont even teach it to our kids so you guys can relax.

The reason that you need such aggressive masculine symbols and we dont is because we dont have to be uncomfortable about our short comings (for the Americans that did not get that 50% that was shot at your manhood.)

We dont go starting problems around the world. We fight when we need to. (By the way we got involved in both world wars earlier then you did. Not so though when might lose. )

The reason that we have terrorist in Canada is because of The USA. Because we are allied with you.

The reason that the USSR had Nukes trained on Canadian targets is because we decided that we would help you. We let you build bases on our soil, that made us targets and helped you.

You dont want terrorists going trough Canada into USA. How about you stop them at your border. We have a smaller population and a larger open border you do the math.
The reason that we have such open borders and we let so many people in is because we meant it when we said we want to help people by letting them emigrate here, we mean what we say. Do you remember the words written on the statue of liberty?

Your angry that were not going into Iraq. You created Bin Ladin, You helped Hussain. You wanted to go to Afghanistan we came and helped yet again. Then when you wanted us to brake our promise to the UN and go and solve yet another of your problems we said no.

Were your wiser older brother and were tired of always looking after you.

Oh and your leader (bush) almost chocked on a pretzel. When Our former Prime Minister (leader of our country at the time )was in harms way he pushed away his own body guards and started chocking the guy. So our leader is so much more cool.

Only one million, eh? Somebody better get their facts straight. There are 1.6 million Chinese people living in Canada as of 2001. That is just one not white group. There are 4.5 million people of Asian descent living in Canada. www.asiapacific.ca...

I could go and look up the numbers for the other minorities but I think I have already shown your post to be devoid of fact.

Oh, and one last thing. I think you should probably learn how to calculate percentages.

I live about 60 miles from the Canadian border, and we have Canadians coming down all the time to shop at wal-mart. We have US citizens that drive up to Canada all the time to get t-3's with codine.

After reading these posts, I wonder how many really hate Canada, or just love to flame each other for fun. Canada has some of the GREATEST freshwater fishing areas around.

After driving thru Canada about 13 years ago, and stopping to get cigs, or something to eat, I can see why they come down across the border a lot. Things in Canada are costly. That was 13 years ago, I cant imagine what it is now.

The only problem I personally have with Canada is that its not the US. Thats not really a problem though, as you can visit Canada all you want, spend your money there, and they can come down here and do the same, they are our neighbors and we are fortunate to have such a friendly group compared to the rest of the world.

Canadians have great humor as well, some of thier comedy shows are very funny, at least I think so, SC TV, Kids in the hall etc.

I guess I just want to voice my opinion, Canadians are a ok in my book. I welcome them with open arms into my community and would hope that if I ever went back thru Canada I would get the same, the first time we went thru Canada, at a truck stop when we asked for dirrections, the guy said we should turn back and go across the border...LOL

You cant like everyone all of the time, but really, Canada is a great country, and has a much more open mind in some areas than we in the US do.

Thier healthcare system is much better than ours to name an example.

I dont worry about canadians invading my country. They dont flock across our border in mass numbers illegally, although I do think that both the US and Canada could and should work more together to secure the borders between the two countries. Thats not a one sided issue, its something that should be done on both sides. It was funny when we went thru, going into canada, they were worried about drug smuggling, and coming out of canada, it was guns.

All in all, Canada is a great neighbor! And I hope that they will always be our friends! Long live Canada, Long live the USA!
