Freak Waves

So I am posting this because as of late I have been noticing a lot of incidents being reported by RSOE visz.rsoe.hu...

Anyway for those of you who have an interest in this type of phenomenon, I have provided a link to a BBC documentary which investigates this topic.

You should listen to the brief interviews they have at the beginning with some survivors. It just sounds horrifying.

These are also often called "Rogue Waves", and here is a recent DVD on sale on the Discovery website. I saw it when it was broadcasted on their TV channel, and it was quite good:

The takeaway lesson is that rogue waves are far more common than previously realized, and certain regions of the oceans are far more prone to them than other regions.
