A swipe at Reagan not backed up by it's own story, WAT A FIND!

The story admits Obama's tax cuts are lower for lower classes than the Bush's and Clinton's but not Reagan's.

Looks like a NY Times reporter that knows he is soon going to e a blogger and go the way of the Rocky Mountain News.

DUMB!!!

I love these "I hate the rich" threads. Usually, they can be boiled down to, "How come the rich that are earning their money aren't giving it to me so I can sit on my ever-expanding ass and not work?"

Really? How about my father's heart doctor? That guy is wiping his butt with hundred dollar bills. He employs three (I think three, maybe four) people in his practice. Pays them a great wage and good benefits plan.

The guy busts his ass every day, not to mention all the schooling he went thru. And I don't think he's inherited anything, since his mom worked as a maid and his dad was a steelworker. And I don't think he's getting any bailout money.

But since he's rich, he's the "enemy" and must be destroyed.

Oh, yeah, and before you bring up his kids inheriting, one is in college (and her education isn't being paid by Daddy) to be a teacher, and his son is an 11B (infantry) in the 82nd Airborne.

I don't listen to Sean and Rush, if you want an example of rich people who've never done an honest days work in their lives, well I could see the finger pointing here. They spew garbage and blame democrats for every problem wrong with the country.

But, you are way out of line when you say "rich people don't hire people and they have never done an honest days work in their lives. "

Oh really? Next time someone I know ask if I know anyone who is hiring I'll send them to go ask the people who work at Walmart or Home Depot for a job. Lets see if they employ them as fast as the rich owners of Walmart or Home Depot.

You see, not everyone inherits money. Many people start successful business that grow. How naive are you to think that businesses just spring up by rich people. Most where started by average people who grinded their way to the top; but how dare them become successful lets punish them.

Yeah! Imagine to live in an utopian community! wouldn't that be wonderful?
wouldn't that be nice?

I'm just trying to adept myself to the thought of a 'Brave New World Order' under the coming utopian Socialism - so that I'd be prepared when the times comes!

For fun try it yourself!

McDonalds is a franchise. The owners of McDonalds aren't rich.

Walmart is a corp. Sam Walton and his Wife are Dead. Granted they were rich and very successful entrepreneurs.

I don't think you have any conceptualization of what "rich" is either.
Just because someone has more money than you; dosen't make them rich.

Whatever, replace McDonalds with another example. Like Home Depot....

I do know what rich is. But it doesn't matter because under your master Obama's plan 250k/year is rich. So don't it doesn't matter really.

But, all is well I guess. Lets just take more of the wealthy's money and give it to a single mom who has 12 kids with all different fathers. Lets reward the lazy screw ups. And take away drive to become wealthy.

Let's do keep this thread on topic.

Because I don't have a party. But I have seen how Reaganomics have changed this country for the worst.

And I believe that this country requires very radical changes every so often, and now is that time.

What makes you think that Gov can't create Jobs? You are right though, we have seen what Big Gov in the _wrong hands_ can do. It can limit the right to marry who you want, it can limit the right to live under the state laws you voted on because the fed gov doesn't care.

But look what's happening now with Obama in Office... Holder has already told the states he will respect their state laws and stop infringing on their rights to pass laws that might be unpopular in other areas of the USA.

I just don't see how the things you are afraid of have any bearing on what is actually occurring.

I am an independent and proud, and care less about any party or anyone who parrots what others are saying. And most specifically those who believe that they can get a point across by disparaging the person who is supporting that point.

Hey IDJ! I posted this thread Because I was amazed at how all of the media outlets were talking about how radical of a change this budget is from anything in the last 30 years.

It's not a swipe at reagan so much as an indicator that things are changing. Yes, I believe Reaganomics was the wrong thing for this country, but I also couldn't have come up with a better idea at the time.

The last 30 years have seen those ideals result in the horrible situation we are in now, and I'm glad that we are trying something radically different.

I am not trying to flame or put up a front against your beliefs, but have you read the package? I think you might want to and send a letter in about the "extra's" added to the bill. ( Be prepared to take alot of breaks it is VERY wordy. Having a dictionary on hand wouldn't hurt either because alot of the wording used is out of context and has more than one meaning.)

I am really hopeful that our new POTUS will be able to figure out this mess and I have even gone as far as to send him a letter. Gawd knows some idiot will probably send me a form response. They had better hope they don't! If they do I will take all of my measly 400$ paycheck and buy stamps and start using it to send as many letters as I can every month till they give it to him!

The problems most people are having with the new POTUS isn't just the bail outs that is the surface of the stigmata. The underlying cause is a lack of TRUST with those on the hill and in the house. It is going to take alot of healing all around for the last 8 years of mistrust, people need to not only HEAR but SEE that they are being listened to and so far that is NOT happening.

I was a newly wed raising a family during Reagan and I suggest you read more on the Reagan legacy he is not the idol that Republicans wants to push after all.

He was an actor that knew how to play the role of president with an Oscar winning performance

But as a politician and economist he was a lousy performer.

Reganomics was nothing but an oxymoron.

My rant is mostly directed at large corporation CEOs. I do realise this is more of an issue for smaller companies that have less room to maneuver.

I truely love this attitude that the grotesquely rich will all of a sudden say "screw this" and shut down all the factories, stay at home spending all their time playing video poker and eating doritos and peanut butter simply because taxes go up a few percent on their $50 million dollar paychecks and the whole world come crashing down because the rich aren't around, stepping on our hands as we try to feed ourselves. Believe it or not there are people that dont give a damn about taxes, they want to make whatever cash they can. Like me, I grew up in government housing and have worked damn hard to get out of that situation and to better myself. Right now I am contemplating starting a business, I have several business ideas that I am thinking about as of now. I just filed for taxes and earned roughly $12k for last year and if my future business gets me into the higher tax brackets because I earn $250k+ and it costs me more in taxes because of Obama, do you think I will care?

No, I wont.

If the greedy leave there will ALWAYS be someone to take their place and very willing to take a small hit on their paychecks to keep putting money in their own pocket.

Again, this is mostly directed at large corporation CEOs.

I sort of agree that the possession of money in this country needs to be rebalanced. I don't see how it's fair that some people have so much money that their pets wear diamond jewelry, while others are so poor that they have to buy somebody elses' used clothing from the Goodwill Stores just to dress their families.

Especially unfair is this: The rich person's job could very likely be to be flown around in a private jet, attend an air conditioned meeting every now and then, sign some papers, and then drive back to one of his multiple homes in a Ferrari.

That poor person might very well have a job like the one I used to have cleaning and refilling propane cylinders. 8 hours of heavy lifting, in an unconditioned building in the middle of July, surrounded by so much propane that one time it caught on fire and they evacuated a two mile radius... for a quarter an hour more than minimum wage.

Who earned it? Really, who did the most work there for their money? That was a privately owned business. The owner didn't set foot in the building once the entire time I worked there, and I know for a fact that he's a millionaire. I ended up quitting because I'd work until I was too sore to sleep at night.

The wealthy make their livings by siphoning money away from the people who earn their paychecks for them. Some of them make money doing nothing at all.

On the other hand, stealing from the rich just because they're rich is morally unjust and it does adversely affect those who have money and chose to put it "back into the system" where it benefits society as a whole. Like people who expand their business with it, or who spend money helping others.

The answer is to do away with income tax completely, and start bringing in money with a national sales tax. And I think that tax should be based not just on a flat percentage, but on the price of what's being bought. 5% on a pair of sunglasses is reasonable, but the tax on something like a Ferrari or a recreational vehicle should be much higher... say, 20%.

In other words, tax luxury, not money.

Many people hate how rich people can own 50 Porches and fly their own private jets while many people are barely hanging on. Personally what I hate is how there is this idea in the US that if we give money to rich people that it will benefit all of us and it doesn't. Then, the results aren't what were intended so we give the rich even more money. The problem with giving rich people money is that most of them lock their money away in such a way that very little gets dispresed to others. (trickle down economics) They hold onto it, its kind of like a rank to brag by with many, the more money you have the more you can brag.

I also, agree with the national non-flat tax. Ive been spreading this idea around for years amongst people that are concerned about whats happening in the world.

======================================================
You can say whatever you like about wealth redistribution but the current economic system is not working and continuing to prop it up can only lead to more failures and destroyed lives.

Alas, all we need to do is study the bees.
The Queen Bee needs Worker Bees.

Then we should study the ants.
The Queen Ant needs the Worker/Soldier Ants.

Then we should realize that we study insects, not the other way around.
So we do not have to stay in the colony. We are free to disassociate, and go our own way.
We are free to voice our opinions, and choose our paths.

And while were on our path, we should be prepared. But we are better off to have bucked the system/machine. Every dog has his day!

Here's my message to you Obama haters, especially the ones who are fomenting (as in foaming-at-the-mouth) for Civil-War-Two. First of all, the South got trounced. Get over it. Go back to your rienactment games and leave this ATS board alone, so that all 3 of us good people left, can get it going in a much better way.
Now here's a joke, to lighten up the mood.
How many right wing hate filled extremists, does it take, to screw in a light bulb?
Answer: Four. The hate radio host, to foment rallying to do this. The gun owner to shoot a hole that the bulb will go in. The wealthy psychopath, to go buy a high quality new bulb. The character from the movie 'Deliverance', to say "sqweel fer me!" While twisting the thing in.

How is that post constructive at all? Instead of insulting people who are opposed to Obama's plan based solely on the fact that they are opposed to it, why don't you point out what you think is so good about his ideas?

If you want to argue the "pros" for his plans, we'd like to hear it. If you'd like to launch a third grader-worthy attack on everyone who wishes to express an opinion that exists outside the field of view of your blinders, there's better places to do it than ATS.

P.S.: By my clock, you've been a registered ATS member for two months. Who died and told you to demand that other members leave the site?

MY prediction.

Layoffs have occurred and will continue for a while, at a lower pace.
The next thing we'll being seeing, is employers "harvesting" our tax cuts.
The cuts are pretty small, and employers will simply call for wage reductions that closely match the change in our NET PAY.

In other words, this will be a hidden corporate tax cut!

And we'll Hardly notice..

I happen to know personally many heirs to vast fortunes created by their ancestors and the only work they did was to be born. Kind of like our last President. It is called aristocracy a class system built on the right of birth.

I have been in these peoples homes up close and personal and they feel entitled to their position. The same thing happened in Europe long ago.

Most folks on this board don't understand what it means to be rich. Really rich. Billionaires by birth. If you have a few million dollars you are not rich although I guess it all depends on where you live.

I will not mention names but you would recognize most of them.

One man's father was partly reponsible in a major way for financing Nazi Germany. He explained it due to the fear of Bolshevism or Communism. It used to give me the creeps knowing that he actually knew Adolf Hitler personally. He travelled with high security. Before he would enter a room men with automatic weapons would prescreen the location and then station themselves strategically until it was time to leave. He thought it was hilarious to take a taxi cab instead of his waiting limo.

He had homes, including castles, around the world. He did not work. I am not sure what he did but I can assure you he wasn't working in the traditional sense of the word. I am positive he could make and break markets. He was intelligent, charming and funny and I actually liked the guy. Then after he would leave I would get kind of a sick feeling like I had met the devil and liked him.

I will mention generally one of the Walton heirs. She does not work and I am sure her dad is rolling over in his grave knowing that Walmart is synonymous with shipping American jobs to China in order to "maximize profit" and control the market. Economic Royalty as Roosevelt once said.
