You know, I'm not anonymous on the internet at all. I'm law abiding and I cherish my rights. I don't care if I get red flagged. They can come get me.

All I can say is mind your business, hippie. If you don't like assualt weapons, don't buy any. More for the rest of us.

Anyway, this two party system isn't working at all. It's the same crap, over and over. The politicians all fit their stereotypes perfectly, even when they are hypocrites and don't even believe what they pretend to stand for. We Americans, don't deserve to be called Americans anymore. Our founding fathers would be disgusted with all of us.

I rather die with my hands clean than taking precious life for selfish reasons.

Bravo my friend! You said it perfectly. I also believe that our founding father would be disgusted by the turn of our country into a Socialist State.
I will be overjoyed when our economy and government collapse in on itself and we will be able to start over on just the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I am profoundly disappointed in Obama for this.

I wouldn't go back and change my vote, there are too many reasons I am happy the GOP is no longer running things, but I certainly feel betrayed.

The AWB is a foolish law that has no effect on gun crime and is based primarily on cosmetic features.

Yes, I would rather die, I wouldn't want to pay the price of having killed someone, I just couldn't live with it.

Then all cars would have to be banned.

An automobile is one of the most deadly weapons on the planet.

Might as well sedate and zombify people while your at it, people would still kill with whatever weapon they could improvise, e.g. their hands.

Originally posted by uaocteaouI hate ths type of regulation, but in reality the last ban didn't effect things to any great degree fot most of us.

That's key isnt it. Some of us did lose out firearms and some others went to jail thereby losing any and all firearms for the rest of their lives.

Many of us still live under this garbage in slave states like MA, CT, CA, NJ, etc..

It's ridiculous that I can go get anything I want in NH at a reasonable price but brothers just over the border have to pay out the ass for "pre-ban" configurations if they want simple aesthetic liberties with the gun.

Also, you mention "expires." An awful lot of people were born under the first ban. An awful lot of people died under the first ban. A decade is a very long time in a human life and living and dying under a government imposed ban is on par with living and dying in shackles. How many people went to their grave thinking the 2nd was all but gone? How many people born under the ban assume that brand of totalitarianism is the norm and will later in life vote with that premise in mind?

Of course, there are no indications whatsoever any Obama ban will have an "expiration" date. All facts point to permanent.

A ban on anything is far too extreme and powerful a concept for anybody to be tossing around. Especially the self-righteous baboons in Washington.

Clintons AWB had a much more powerful effect than you seem to give it credit for. You cant just spend a decade in prison and upon getting out say "it's only 10 years, no big deal, we still had toilets and TV" unless of course you didnt value not being in prison. Then I suppose incarceration wouldnt be a big deal.
