Didn't Obama say to gun owners.... "You have nothing to fear" ? No wonder gun sales have been on record highs.

I think I may have found a way to beat the economy. I bought when an SKS with detachible AK clips went for $75 and AR's went for $700.

So much for him saying "I won't take your guns" huh? It amuses me that the NRA tried to warn people that this was the plan and they were called paranoid for their trouble. And now lo and behold they were right.

Of course, many people will just roll over and agree with it since it comes from Obama and his administration. Kinda sad really. Especially when the proverbial poo would have hit the fan had Bush tried anything similar.

Well Well Well.. This didn't take long. The MSM has been priming the nation for this move for weeks. I have noticed a marked increase in news stories about the violence in Mexico and the violence that has spilled over into our borders in recent weeks. Furthermore, the state department has issued warnings to Spring Break travelers about the risk of traveling to Mexico. They have simply been lubing up the probe.

To hell with Mexico and its problems. The drug cartels will get weapons from any number of sources throughout the vast lands South of our borders. Venezuela will probably give them away . All the more reason to keep assault weapons in the hands of law abiding citizens in this country.

Now, how do I convince my wife that I need to spend $1200 on a new Bushmaster?? Perhaps I will suggest that it is an investment that will soon have great value. Any suggestions??

Seems odd that they would allow the AWB to go ahead as constitutional while in the Heller decision they decided the DC handgun ban was unconstitutional.

If not, I hope the SupCo slams down on this new ban.

I would tell the average American to wake up, but you guys elected Obama in the full knowledge that he would do this.

Yeah, we all knew they were going to try this at some point. With any luck, the 'moderate' Dem congresscritters from flyover territory will grow a spine and tell Obama where he can stick that AWB, but I'm not betting on it. Plus, there are a handful of GOPers that'll back it as well.

Oh well. If they do it, they'll lose the 2010 Congressional mid-terms and possibly the 2012 presidential race as well. You'd think they'd have learned their lesson when their '94 ban kept them out of power for more than a decade, but dumb Dems don't learn, apparently.

2) High capacity magazine ban
3) Limit on ammunition purchases
4) Crippling tax on legal guns and ammo
5) National firearms registration (w/fingerprints) for all owned firearms
6) Forbid ownership for Misdemeanor convictions
7) Mandatory $1,000,000 liability insurance policy for all gun owners
8) Ban on all .50 cal. weapons and ammunition
9) Ban on all hollowpoint bullets
10) Yearly registration fee w/background check
11) The gradual confiscation of firearms for "the common good"

They will not suddenly come to everyone's home and demand your firearms. No, it will be more like the frog in the pot of water that has the temperature increased slowly, one degree at a time until he is cooked. That is how Obama and his Socialist Congress will come for your guns...one degree at a time, one regulation at a time, one ban at a time.

My fellow Americans, we are in the pot, and I just felt the water get a little warmer!

A while back I was discussing the possibility of this with a friend and he was sure Obama wouldnt be so quick to move to re-establish the Assault Weapon Ban because of the state of the economy, wars, etc. Given this I hate to have to call that friend up and tell him that I was right all along and that the primary reason for Obama restricting the rights of US citizens is the wellfare of Mexico; maybe they will make a few laws then to help curb the influx of undocumented and illegal workers flooding from their borders over to ours?

And in dark humor terms this could help the economy as people flock to gun stores to stock up before the new law sails through congress without anybody giving it a single glance. Shame I don't own a gun store right now...
