Can someone help me please, I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows Vista (I know, I should´ve known better, Vista!!?), I got a licensed DVD software to burn my dvds and use the copies when I travel etc. (so I don´t risk the originals). The problem is that it worked fine a few times but now after the software reads from the original and asks for the blank DVD, I do it and then it´s like it disables the DVD Room, the light doesn´t blink, it´s just on, I push the button to get the blank DVD out and It doesn´t open the door, if I open the Windows explorer the DVD room no longer appears on the system, I have to restart the computer in order to been able to use the dvd room again.

is it a Vista problem?

Sounds like an issue with the drive itself to me.

Is the DVD burner drive something that came standard with the computer, or did you add it on?
