Yah screw openness keep it confidential.

Is there anything going to satisfy you? You can't have it both ways. As I stated before, there will either be compromise on this issue or nothing at all.

Some guy on psychadelics come on and says. " So I was trippin' on '___', and I discovered DNA" True story, though I'm having a hard time finding his name.

I appreciate your even handed approach. But why is it important that he was on '___', just had a cup of coffee or a fun night with his significant other.

The important thing was that he discovered DNA. I don't think he should be robbed of his Nobel Peace Prize because he chooses to divulge what he does to set his moods or focus. Yet there are some people who would rob him of that Nobel Peace Prize because of what he does to set his moods or focus.

It's called discretion and some people say it is the better part of valor.

Now was he making a political statement in saying I discovered DNA but through the aide and only with the aide of...?

I admired Marlon Brando for sending a Native American to turn down his Oscar and inform others about Wounded Knee in the process.

The Motion Picture Academy didn't though.

Mom told me a long time ago when in Rome do as the Romans do. ATS has a policy that they think is sound for their business plan and approach. It is their Rome so to speak. The real golden rule is he who has the gold rules.

I gain a lot of valuable insights and information on ATS through people like you. I am happy to do as ATS wishes me to do when visiting their site in exchange for that privelage.

I think the site owners or at least I imagine the site owners are looking at a bigger, broader, more balanced scheme of things than just the advocates of this one topic are.

I am great at logistics but I must confess I have no true idea of what logistics the owners of ATS face everyday in their quest to succesfully run the Internets largest and most respected conspiracy related site.

Obviously they have done a superb job to have garnered that continual distinction.

I am prepared to leave it up to their discretion, as I said discretion is the better part of Valor.

I don't disagree with a word your saying my friend. I am just advocating letting he who not only has the gold but made the gold rule.

Discussing conspiracies for me is a passion. Providing a venue for them for profit is a business. ATS's business not mine.

Do you folks even realize that the majority of people who use ATS have not been on since this thread was started? Reminds me of Congress releasing a Bill in the middle of the night and then voting on it before anyone can even read it.

Welcome to the world of Politics and how most people get left out. Can you imagine coming on line to find this huge thread and attempt to even know what is going on, let alone participate. Way to go guys

IMHO Bill should have just banned drug talk and walked away. The Internet is full of druggie sites. Why in the hell do they need this one too? Utter nonsense.

ATS already has excellent Moderators and Owners now. You should all just say thank you for this wonderful site and follow the damn rules.

I see the druggies have managed to get the Chat shut down. Way to go.

If discussing drugs is so important to you that you are willing to risk ruining this wonderful site; perhaps you need to rethink your priorities.

I keep thinking of Lord of the Flies for some reason

I appreciate your willingness, but it was decided to go ahead with the vote since this thread had been up for over 24 hours.
Thanks. I'm sure if a new forum is formed, your input will be appreciated there.

On the U2Us, I've already gotten back about 10 responses out of 30, but will wait till 3 PM tomorrow to tally the vote.

Woo-hoo!
I'm taking my dogs out to play!

....I think we're talking about whether the votes will remain confidential or not.
Not anything to do with the drug issue.

Agreed. If more mods are needed to make sure "bad apples" arent ruining the site, then make more mods. I think it is a shame we can no longer discuss topics such as studies of the effects of certain substances on the human mind, memory, possible effects on religious experience, negative effects on society, etc., simply because some people are doing........what exactly?

I havent run across oodles of people bragging on their substance abuse. I have seen it here and there, but why the heck arent they just reprimanded and then banned for it if it continues?

There are lots of legitimate reasons, breaking news, etc., science, etc., to discuss illicit substances. Why dont we see if we cant take on some advertisers that sell drug paraphernalia and use ear splitting audio to grab your attention to go along with the half naked girls rubbing their crotches and the cheesy music that accompanies it so that the hypocrisy can be complete?

From the T&C;

1a) Offensive Content: You will not post links to images or use avatars and signatures that are offensive, abusive, distruptive and/or hateful. You will not use images, avatars or link to domains that contain gore, mutilation, pornography or illegal(2e) content. Doing so will result in removal of your post(s) and immediate termination of your account.

Yea she is talking about Confidentiality in the votes.

The votes will remain confidential. Only the names of the top 6 vote-receivers will be posted. If one of them decides not to participate, the next person in line will replace them and so on until we have 6 willing DISC members.

Well, the guy I was replying to was saying that it shouldn't be confidential... Honestly, whatever you all decide, someone is going to take issue. I applaud you all for trying, though.

I think that it's because some very well respected, otherwise mature members are crossing lines when it comes to the drug issue. And it would be a real shame to ban them just because of that. There also seems to be a fuzzy line between appropriate and inappropriate drug discussion. I think it deserves another fair chance.

And with that, lol, right.. tutoring.

I'm just glad we were able to come to a resolution regarding this matter.

We all win - no matter the outcome of this nomination process. Reason and good sense prevailed over what could have been a lesser road to ignorance - literally.

Good luck to everyone.

Well, I gave an example from one of my own threads as to an appropriate time to discuss drugs... To me, it's self-explanatory, but to some others, not so much.

Bull
You just want to talk about drugs and for some reason the huge number of druggie sites does not satisfy you. You don't care it will make many members uncomfortable and may drive people away and will certainly give ATS a bad reputation.

At a time when the REAL Topics here need public attention you would remove the credibility of ATS? We have all seen just how well the druggies are able to control themselves, which is not at all.
