The secrecy of Swiss banking laws is sacred. It was and has been in effect due to some of the historical events which have occurred throughout the world, and notably in Europe over the past 100 years. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that there have been times when folks with certain ethnic sounding names have had all of their assets taken away from them (along with all of their personal assets, homes, everything). The Swiss system provides protection from that and a short read of history tells you that it is important and necessary.
Most of this money is money made by a US citizen, subject to income tax and then moved off-shore. It is moved off-shore for a number of reasons.
1. folks don't want the government to have access to the money to the extent that we get an administration/government entity who feels entitled to the money.
2. folks wish to invest the money with off-shore investment advisors and with the money kept off-shore they are not subject to US capital gains taxes, nor any form of reporting to the government.
It has nothing to do with protecting their money from an economic failure, but more to do with hiding money from the IRS. Wealthy people are so burdened with the unfair progressive tax system, they have no choice but to hide assets.
Most wealthy people in America have worked extremely hard to have what they have.

I starred your post because that is a great article.
Now may I ask where to find the article?
I don't want to read the whole excerpt here. It is too hard on my eyes.
That article you posted nearly took up this entire PAGE.[edit on 25-2-2009 by Jay-in-AR]

Actually, this is Propoganda to drum up support for National ID, Secure Internet, Secure Email, etc. but, most of all it will be coupled with the drug war. It will be revealed that those 300 whatever listed names made profits off the InterNational Government Sponsored Drug Trade and used the Swiss Banks to evade taxes. This does two things:
1. It justifies National ID and all Debit Card Credit Currency to avoid tax evasion.
2. It justifies National ID and all Debit Card Credit Currency to avoid drug trafficking as there will be no cash supply for them to draw from
With that kind of agenda, you can see why the Secret Drug Trafficking sponsored by the InterNational Governments and the Banking Cartel. It was a move to undermine the Mafia and Organized crime, while hiding that they are the Mafia and Organized Crime. It allows for the perfect accounting of human assets, allows complete monitoring and surveillance of everyone, everywhere, at all times, and, it allows them to keep the Monopoly Money Game going while they horde all the real wealth back with the Aristocrats and away from the Industrialists where they had kept it for so long until the Middle Class Industrial Capitalist Class usrped it in the 1500's during the reign of the last Tudor, Queen Elizabeth, the Elizabethan Era. Not for the sake of money, that they let us play with like children, fake currency or electronic numbers, it's just imaginary play money, as long as we believe in it they can use it to control us. No, they have all the real capital and wealth. This is simply about control and dominion through deceit, dividing, conquering and entertainment on a Global Military, Political, Industrial, Economic, Scientific, religious, etc. scale.
Not a theory. It's all in writing.

NOTES
8 -- For his birth (in Warrenton, Pa.), see www.paveweb.com...
12 -- History of King County Washington [Chicago: 1929], vol. 2, pp. 516-18: "A native of Iowa, he [J. W. Maxwell] was born September 8, 1864, a son of Dr. Thomas G. and Mary Louise (Woodworth) Maxwell, who went to Nebraska in 1861 and the father aided in laying out the town of Lincoln. He was the first physician in that part of the state and his practice was drawn from a wide area. The mother passed away in Nebraska and in 1880 he migrated to California, settling in Santa Barbara, where he spent the remainder of his life. ... Mr. Maxwell was married October 23, 1889, to Miss Belle Oakley, a native of Dunkirk, New York, and a daughter of O. R. and Belle (Thompson) Oakley. Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell have become the parents of two sons. ... The younger son, James Willard, Jr., was graduated from the University of Washington and fills a responsible position in the bond department of the National Bank of Commerce. He married Miss Adele Thompson, of Enumclaw, Washington, and both are prominent in social circles of Seattle."
25 -- Ancestry taken from Woodworth genealogy at members.aol.com...
60 -- www.washington.historylink.org...: "As was the case during the earliest period of settlement, from 1846 until the turn of the century, Irish were often the first and leading settlers in various regions of Washington state. Many of the sixty-niners, naturalized Irish who served as enlisted men in the United States Army Cavalry at the Vancouver Barracks and Fort Nisqually, remained after their terms ended. Among them was William O'Leary from Cork County, Ireland, who settled on the south shore of Grays Harbor in 1848. The family of Irishman William Medcalf and his English wife, Martha Ann, followed O'Leary a bachelor. They were the first white family to settle near the lower Chehalis River. While O'Leary and Medcalf farmed, others turned to mining or business related to mining, lumber, or transportation."
www.montesano.us...: "Another settler, William Medcalf, was the first settler to build on land north of the Chehalis River in the area of present-day Montesano proper. Together, Mrs. Medcalf and Mrs. Scammon established the first regular church, the Methodist church, In 1869. Rev. J.S. Douglas became the community's first assigned minister."
63 -- For her second husband, see www.accessgenealogy.com...
101 -- perhaps the Nancy Cous, dau. of Hendrick Cous and Jannetje Hoogeteeling, b. 4 Feb and bp. 27 Jun 1790 Reformed Church, Gallatin, Columbia Co., NY; or the Nancy Cous b. 1 and bp. there 24 Oct 1790, dau. of William Cous and Weighty Parks (FHL #963,911 item 4)
Later: it would appear that the chances are good that #101 is in fact the daughter of William Cous(e) and Wei(gh)ty Parks, since Wei(gh)ty married (2nd marriage for both) Joseph Woodworth, #100 Luther Woodworth's father. For this, see the page of Revolutionary War soldiers of Cattaraugus Co., NY, at www.paintedhills.org...: "Woodworth, Joseph Born 1756 in Old Lebanon, Conn. Died May 21, 1842 at Napoli, Catt. Co., NY. Buried at Elm Creek. Served four years in the Revolution from Conn. Enlisted Jan. 1, 1776 in Capt. Dyer's Co.; Col. Durkee's Regiment. Participated in Battles of Harlem and Trenton. Was with Gen. Wayne at Stony Point and present at the surrender of Burgoyne. Later in New Jersey Campaign and at Valley Forge. Married as 2nd wife, Weity Parks Couse, who was born in 1760. Received a pension from Madison Co. in 1818. On Pension List for Catt. Co. 1840. Living at Conewango. Age 82 yrs. Lineage Book, D.A.R. v. 151, p.122"
201 -- perhaps the Sarah Gould b. 22 Sep 1757 in Lebanon (Lebanon VRs), dau. of John Gould and Eunice Crandall (m. there 8 Apr 1756).
204 -- GLIF 1:258-9: "Daniel Brush ... born at Huntington, L.I. 5 Oct. 1744, baptized 11 Nov. 1744, married there on 19 Feb. 1775 Hannah Phillips, born 29 July 1756, daughter of Samuel Phillips and Sarah Mills of Smithtown....Administration on the estate of Daniel Brush was granted 3 Sept. 1805 to his brother-in-law Mills Phillips and his son Samuel Brush, the widow Hannah having refused administration. He died 23 Aug. 1805, age 60. His widow died 12 Sept. 1834, age 78..."
207 -- Rockwell 30: "Lydia Keller, born Ridgefield Nov. 4, 1751; married, March, 1773, at Ridgebury, her second cousin, Jeremiah Keeler, son of Jonah and Mary Keeler, of North Salem, where he was born in 1754. They settled on his father's homestead in North Salem, and there died-he May 5, 1812, and she Sept. 23, 1832, and were buried in the North Salem Cemetery. His will was dated Feb. 25, 1805."

414 -- Rockwell 15: "Silas Keeler, born Ridgefield Dec. 3, 1724; married at Wilton, April 14, 1746, Abigail Elmer; they lived at Ridgefield; he died May 2, 1774, and was buried in Ridgebury Cemetery."
426 -- Several undocumented Internet sites present this descent of Aaron Jaqua from James Chilton, a Mayflower passenger:
James Chilton
Isabel Chilton m. Roger Chandler
Martha Chandler m. John Bundy
James Bundy m. Mary Briggs
Lydia Bundy m. Ebenezer Jakques
Aaron Jaqua (number 426, above)
The descent is false. See Mayflower families through five generations, vol. 15 [1997], pp. 27-28, which shows that there is no evidence that James Bundy and his wife Mary --- (not Briggs) had a daughter Lydia.
816 -- GLIF 1:190-1: "Robert Brush ... born at Huntington, L.I., 30 June 1685; married first Isabella or Isabel Weeks of Oyster Bay, daughter of Thomas Weeks and Isabella Harcourt....Robert Brush was living on 11 Jan. 1758....He evidently was dead by 20 June 1766 when William Nicolls, hatter, took the earmark of Robert Brush."
828 -- Rockwell 9: "Joseph Keeler, born at Norwalk 1683; married Elizabeth Whitney, daughter of John and Elizabeth Smith Whitney; they settled in Ridgefield. He was a carpenter, and as early as 1715, by a town meeting, he was appointed to repair the meeting house, and in 1716 he was elected lister and sealer of weights and measures, and Dec. 20, 1722, surveyor; and in 1725, one of a committee to fix the line betwixt Norwalk and Ridgefield. In 1735 he was a Justice of the Peace and the town miller, and for several years afterwards. He died Nov. 29, 1757, at 74; she died March 17, 1763, at 79."

1632 -- Cutter 4:1698 - "Richard, son of Thomas Brush, settled on West Neck, on the south shore of Lloyd's Harbor. This property remained in the possession of his descendants until 1898. Like his father, he was a town officer, a commissioner to lay out lands and roads, and in 1683 one of the seven trustees annually elected under the new patent."
Corrected by GLIF 1:177-9: "Richard Brush, born about 1640, probably in England, is indicated as a brother of Thomas Brush. Presumably he was the Richard Brush, aged 18, servant of Mr. Joseph Cooke of Cambridge, Mass., who testified in the Court at Cambridge on 6 April 1658....Richard Brush was a home-owner in Huntington by 1 January 1668....About this time he married Joanna Sammis, born about 1648, daughter of Richard Sammis of Windsor, Conn. Because of most plausible circumstantial evidence it is frequently stated that Richard Brush married Joanna Corey. His marriage to Joanna or Johanna Sammis, however, is proved by the Hartford, Conn., /Probate Court Records/, long in print....Richard Brush was dead by 10 Nov. 1714. Probably his widow was the Mrs. Brush, frequently called 'Granny Brush,' who appears steadily in the account books of Henry Lloyd between 1716 and 1728 as housekeeper, spinner and midwife."
1658 -- Cutter 1:21 - "John, son of Henry Whitney, was born before his father went to Southold, died in 1720. He had a grant of land January 20, 1665, at Norwalk, where he settled with his father. He was also a miller and millwright, and succeeded his father as owner of the Norwalk mill and homestead."

FURTHER NOTES
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) publishes a Patriot Index, a list of persons whose honorable service in the cause of independence during the American Revolution renders their female descendants eligible for membership in the NSDAR. Several ancestors of Bill Gates appear in the Patriot Index, including:
Daniel Brush (number 204)
Sylvanus Gibbs (number 214)
Joseph Woodworth (number 200)
While Mr. Gates is not eligible for membership in the NSDAR (by not being female), he is eligible for membership in the equivalent organization for men, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

These are long established families.
In the 1400's European power centers coalesce into two camps: the Ghibellines, who supported the Emporors Hohenstaufen family, and the Guelphs, from Welf, the German prince who competed with Frederick for control of the Holy Roman Empire. The Pope allied himself with the Guelphs. All modern history stems directly from the struggle between these two powers.

You could point to Bill Gates and say here's a commoner who rose through the ranks on his own merit's having no ties to England, except through his registered Partiotic ancestor's who were? English subject's. But, it's odd that of the thousand's of program's submitted, his was chosen. Hundred's of other program's were simpler, hundred's were more efficient, hundred's were on par with his, yet, his was selected and the PC and Business mainframes took of, giving him a virtual monopoly. Now, doesn't it seem probable that the systems were already there, probably beyond the scope of the technologies we know of and use even today, and that it was all done to reinforce the and further the age old conspiratorial agenda?
The US government is going after Swiss banks to hand over their super-secret account details. This is so wrong.
Had the U.S. done that or had the DoJ indicted UBS, it would have put the bank out of business in America with a loss of thousands of UBS U.S. jobs. It would also have caused a probable collapse of the bank itself, with major Swiss and global economic repercussions. (UBS' bad management already has lost over US$50 billion in the subprime mortgage crisis).
But even U.S. prosecutors knew the global financial system could hardly weather the destruction of UBS by American prosecutors.
