You know, from the purely conspiratorial side of things this is a VERY troubling turn of events.
It seems, considering Prof. Emeritus' material, that Bush and Co. seem to have not only wrecked the economy on the way out the door, but also saw to it that our local region was completely destabilized.
Talk about a sh* storm!

Eh, I just don't know, though. There would have to be a Military take-over here in the States for that plan to work in any way that would benefit the perpetrators. Otherwise, they won't have accomplished too much other than to create one giant... distraction?

No way. Too elaborate.
I guess we'll just have to keep our ears to the grind-stone.

Here it is:

State Dept. Cites 'Large Firefights' in Travel Alert on Mexico
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 20 -- The latest travel advisory for Mexico from the U.S. State Department will certainly not please the tourist board. Rather than a glossy brochure advertising the country's many delights, the travel alert issued Friday reads like the plot of a crime thriller.

"Recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the advisory reads. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez. During some of these incidents, U.S. citizens have been trapped and temporarily prevented from leaving the area."

Being "temporarily prevented" from leaving a firefight is never a good thing as far as promoting tourism goes. Tourism is one of Mexico's main sources of income, and the country that sends the most tourists to Mexico is the United States.

The State Department routinely updates its assessments of hot spots around the globe, issuing official "warnings" and "alerts." Warnings are the worst, reserved for nations posing higher risks for travelers, and cover countries such as Haiti, Iraq and Congo. "Alerts," like the one issued for Mexico, do not recommend that visitors avoid an entire country but instead advise them to employ extra caution and avoid specific locales and behaviors. In Mexico, those behaviors include driving at night, buying drugs and visiting the state of Durango.

According to the alert, the threat of bodily harm is part of the ongoing drug war: "Mexican drug cartels are engaged in an increasingly violent conflict -- both among themselves and with Mexican security services -- for control of narcotics trafficking routes along the U.S.-Mexico border. In order to combat violence, the government of Mexico has deployed troops in various parts of the country. U.S. citizens should cooperate fully with official checkpoints when traveling on Mexican highways."

The alerts are a poke in Mexico's eye as well as a source of friction. As Mexican commentators point out, the country is fighting to stop drugs heading to the world's largest consumer nation -- the United States.

The department uses strong language to describe the situation in Mexico. "U.S. citizens are urged to be alert to safety and security concerns when visiting the border region. . . . While most crime victims are Mexican citizens, the uncertain security situation poses serious risks for U.S. citizens as well," the alert states. "Robberies, homicides, petty thefts, and carjackings have all increased over the last year across Mexico generally, with notable spikes in Tijuana and northern Baja California. Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana and Nogales are among the cities which have recently experienced public shootouts during daylight hours in shopping centers and other public venues."

The State Department will review the situation again in six months.

Texas was its own country before some yahoo decided to join the U.S. Its the Texas state national guard so we do not need approval from the govt to activate them. We also have the largest military base in the country. Ft Hood. dunno how many folks I've know that have been shipped to iraq. time to bring our boys home. shut down the borders and start worrying about things here instead of trying to police the world. wake up america, we've got to take care of our country first. we've got major problems going on here. what happens if someone decides its time to invade and we're caught again with our pants down because the majority of our fighting force is scattered to the four winds? did u know they are building a 300 million dollar embassy in iraq? I think we could use that money right about now.

It's been needed for awhile. I am glad that my proud state of Texas is taking action. It's just a matter of time till the NG goes to the boarder. It will most likely happen in all boarder states soon there after.

In my opinion the reason it's gone ignored for so long is the fact is involves bigotry. I hate to pull the racism card here, but most politicians are white and happily staged in Washington DC.

Out of Site; Out of Mind.

The military should have been enforcing stricter boarders for a long time! If you ignore an infection, it gets worse and worse until it's life threatening.

Yes, they are, and the minute our troops are pulled out, the Iraqis will burn it down.
It was criminal for Bush to use National Guard troops in the Middle East. He did leave our own borders undefended, and now we have the possibility of major problems on the Texas-Mexican border.

Well I hope Texas really does it and isn't stopped by the Federal Government. We tried the national guard thing here in Cali a few years back and got poopoo'd all to hell over it. Right about the time Bush ordered the Govenator to stand down we had a massive influx.
Now we have passed laws that gave them time to leave and not face charges. I have seen and heard of those Ice idiots here in my town in Northern California and around that bay area, oh joy they found like a few hundred illegal workers. What about the thousands of gang members no one is touching because they don't want a "gang" war! Yeah let's pass a few more laws and maybe they will get bored with playing drug lords on our streets and go home.....
I have nothing against people who come here LEGALLY my husband is from another country for cripes sake. But he has worked and paid taxes since he was 16. He has never started a gang never dealt drugs never kidnapped raped shot or killed anyone. If an American citizen was doing this kind of BS crap they would have it ALL OVER THE MSM! The American would get the death penalty and it would be over. But because it is illegal immigrants opps excuse me "undocumented workers" from Mexico it's not a big problem. This is our country not theirs if they want to be a part of it they have to follow the same laws we do!
Put the guard on the border with shot to kill the drug lord orders...then extend it to all illegal immigrants who choose to be gangs, deal drugs, shoot, kill, kidnap and rape people. Guess what will happen? They WILL leave on their own in droves sneaking back the way they came in! Problem solved

good point prof e. they will burn it down. I know 300 million these days is not a lot of money (stifles laugh) compared with 700 billion! but that would build one hell of a fence! drugs will make their way here as long as the demand for it exists. straight economics. us texans tried to get rid of bush for 8 years but he came back. ahhhhhh. am I the only person in america that fails to belive obama has any chance in hell of saving this country? he is no superhero/god. he is a puppet. a politician. anyone notice the gas shot right back up after he took office? coincidence? hardly. war still on? yep. how come u never hear of bad things going down in canada? oh yeah and they have free healthcare! its time for a change alright. just like we did when the british controlled us. we are too lazy and complacent in our own little worlds to not let them control us. anybody ever hear of for the people, by the people? guess not. this is "our" country! we should help our neighbors, not our enemies. there are little kids in the middle east that want you dead. don't mess with Texas! Lets just ignore what's right outside our door. maybe it will just go away. heh
Thanks Ya'll.

Once again he is prophetic.

His Ghost Recon game predicted the South Ossetia crisis last year.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, the sequal, covers a Mexican coup.

The game takes place over the course of two days in 2013, beginning in Mexico City. A US spy plane carrying Guardrail IX, a device capable of disrupting wireless communications, is shot down over Nicaragua.

Intelligence discovers a plot to transfer the device to rebels in Mexico City, and the Ghosts are sent in to retrieve it. One of the rebels is identified as Colonel Carlos Ontiveros, son of Mexican General Ontiveros, and a student of Bud, Mitchell's friend and a UH-60 pilot. The mission is aborted when a coup d'état begins in Mexico City and the Ghosts are ordered to Mexico City immediately, where a summit involving the leaders of the United States: President Ballantine, Canada: Canadian Prime Minister (unnamed), and Mexico: President Ruiz-Pena, who are signing the North American Joint Security Agreement (NAJSA).

The summit is attacked by Mexican revolutionaries, who kill the Canadian Prime Minister, and force the Presidents of the US and Mexico into hiding. Mitchell is sent to safely extract both leaders.

And GRAW2 covers the border struggle in more detail.

The game takes place in the year 2014, 48 hours after the events of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, just south of the United States border and deals with the confilct between a Mexican rebel group, Mexican Loyalists, and the United States Army for a time span of 72 hours.

A wide array of location types featuring mountains, small towns, urban environments, and a large hydro-electric dam just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

My mother has several friends only 20 minutes drive from the Texas / Mexico border.

This news has worried her greatly. We've emailed them and suggested a prolonged holiday up north somewhere.

Just wondering, how much of your actually real military do you still have stateside?

Percentage wise? If most is overseas and this spills over I doubt the National Guard alone will be able to hold the line.

Here is a whitepaper I found about the subject. This is a quote from this paper and it is eerily similar to the events that are slowly coming to pass in the US today.

"DECLINE OF THE MIDDLE CLASS
In Mexico, 2% of the population owns 98% of the wealth. Over 40% are
living below the poverty line. The middle class has been squeezed out in the
last thirty years. International interests and American franchise points of sales
are replacing local merchants and craftsman. Every socialist who wants to
disturb a failed system looks for a missing middle class because it makes it
easier to pit the masses against a small group of elite. A middle class with
reasonable entry by lower classes will help stem socialism, however, Mexico
is loosing that bastion for moderate change."

This is ther first time I have actually been worried that the sh__ is about to hit the fan for real.

"AUSTIN -- Texas officials are working on a plan to respond to a potential collapse of the Mexican government and the specter of thousands fleeing north in fear for their lives after recent reports indicated the country could be on the verge of chaos.

"You hope for the best, plan for the worst," Katherine Cesinger, spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry, said last week. "At this point, we've got a contingency plan that's in development." "

The first three pages showed about....I don't know, about five or six of the same people posting???

Now, page four. Some rational posters.

However....LOVE your Mother, but I believe she A: is not in danger and B: could take of herself, or else YOU'D be there in as fast as a plane could take you, and you wouldn't be posting here, online......

What I keep hearing in my head is "Remember the Alamo".

THIS is online....the State of Texas presents the largest border with Mexico, of course.

Except, if you follow your geography....it is a RIVER!!!!

California and Arizona....no actual 'natural' barriers....mostly defined by Treaty....

Oh, what the heck!!! let's ANNEX Mexico!!!!!

Come on!!!! They have great resources, beautiful beaches, wonderful Resorts.....I say, GO FOR IT!!!!!

Look at all the cheap Real Estate we'd acquire!!!!!

Who's with me?!?!?!

This is win/win folks!!!!! No more Immigration problem, AND you get to keep your Maids!!!!!

It's a Trifecta!!!!!!!!!

I have 3 words for you...CIA. Unfortunately, this lateset load of MSM hoopla about a supposed drug war is not the entire truth. This is just the beginning of the NAU gaining a foothold into Mexico. Before Mexico can be allowed entry in the sacred union, they're going to have to clean up their act...hence we have this so called drug war. Nothing more than the CIA infiltration into Mexican business...people around here really forget history. Where there's dope, there's the CIA. And hey, we could really use some extra money right now to fund the coming war. We're just killing two birds with one stone. This goes much deeper than what we're being told, and I have it on good source its not what you read in the paper...
So cheer this one on, they're counting on it! We make it so easy for them because we react just like we're supposed to. And why are your eyes are looking south, when there ls tons of heroin coming in from the east...?

PS...how many states border with Mexico? Wasn't the article I read just last week that said Phoenix was the Mexican Drug Cartel's kidnapping capitol? Funny, i 'd never heard anything like that before. So why not Arizona? Because you always count on Texas to puff up big and proud just like you read on this thread. We already tried this in Cali a few years ago...we got DENIED.

Mmk...I'm sorry, but this isnt new news. I LIVE on the border, and I can tell you hands down that we hear about oh...20-30 shootings a day, mostly cops and business owners being murdered, bodies being found, such and so forth.

Believe me, the problem will not spill over, and should it do so, the Border Patrol HERE can easily handle it.
