Yeah, funny thing about detainees. They start talking when they get tortured.

Another funny thing about detainees is that they are trained to cry "torture" even when there is none. That is in the Al-Queda training manual. Another funny thing is that they know the liberal media will believe them!

Yup, they'll tell you anything... which is why it is proven that torture does not work!

But hey, if you want to advocate torture, that's something you can deal with when you meet that God you believe in.

*Edit:

And as far as lying about torture, pictures and documentation of ordering torture don't lie.

It is impossible to prove torture does not work, and would be quite easy to prove it does.

It's already underway and RPG os right when she says we can't undo it.

He's already talking about a global economic safety net and Gordon Brown is right along with him. The EU is falling apart. A socialist NWO is upon us and Obama supporters now refuse to see or acknowledge it.

I find it surprising that, on this website of "alternative theories;" so many posters here still buy into the "left vs right" paradigm.
Its a scam, people. The elite control both parties, and they have for a long time. Every four to eight years we throw one puppet out, and another comes in. How different would things look right now, if Bush were still in office or if McCain had taken office? My guess is the difference would be negligable. Bush or McCain would be up there right now, talking about the gradual withdrawal of troops from Iraq with a permanent presence left behind, a surge in Afghanistan, and a possible war with Iran over a so-called nuclear weapons program that we have not one iota of evidence that it actually exists. If Bush or McCain were up there now, we would probably be passing the exact same stimulus packages and bankster bailouts.
Here is a quote from Carrol Quigley, whom Bill Clinton described as a mentor.

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."

All you need do is look at Obama and McCain's main campaign contributors and you'll see who they really work for - J.P. Morgan Chase, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, UBS AG, etc.
Please, if you still feel the need to throw blame at Republicans or Democrats, which will further divide the country and waste a lot of time and energy, consider the possibility that you're being played. Judge them by what they do, not what party they belong to or their empty political rhetoric.
Bush is a mass murdering war criminal, and Obama's no different.

How is that?

Have you caught him torturing yet? Has he not already begun working on reversing many of the Bush era's changes? Has not already begun tax reform? What about pulling out of Iraq, has that not already been put in motion? Did he not close Gitmo? Has he not promised to reduce the deficit (not sure if he'll be able to accomplish his goal, but I am hopeful)?

You didn't vote for him, so you don't get to tell ME what change I voted for. Get it?

No, he hasn't been caught yet, but he will be.
No, he hasn't begun reversing Bush policies; he's talked about it, DONE NOTHING.
No, he hasn't begun tax reform. He's reneged on his campaign tax promises.
No. he hasn't put Iraq withdrawal in motion. He promised a prompt end and proposed a 2/3 reduction for late 2010, with 50,000 troops on station there indefinitely.
He has NOT closed Gitmo.
He has promised to reduce the deficit while actually TRIPLING it. Economists already state publicly it will INCREASE further when the stimulus trickles end in 2010 and "cap and trade" kick energy, food, transportation and shelter prices higher against a devalued dollar.

Drink the Obama KoolAid. Sheep will follow their shepherd into a chasm.

I voted. Not for McCain and never for Obama.

GITMO and the likes

Friday January 23 2009
US President Barack Obama moved yesterday to restore America's image abroad by ordering the closure of the CIA's network of foreign "ghost" prisons, the shutting of Guantanamo Bay within a year and a ban on the use of torture and harsh interrogation techniques.

Mr Obama also ordered a review of the CIA's controversial use of extraordinary rendition, in which terror suspects are kidnapped and sent to foreign countries for interrogation, often in nations with poor human-rights records.

Mr Obama signed four executive orders that triggered a fundamental reversal of the way that George W Bush sought to detain and prosecute terror suspects, policies that were decried by human rights groups and foreign governments as an affront to American values and the Geneva Conventions.

The centrepiece of his second day in office was the order to close the controversial jail at the US military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"The message that we are sending the world is that the US intends to prosecute the ongoing struggle against violence and terrorism ... in a manner that is consistent with our values and ideals," Mr Obama said.

In addition to the order to shut Guantanamo, Mr Obama declared all US personnel, including the CIA, must follow the 'US Army Field Manual' while interrogating.

The manual prohibits threats, coercion, physical abuse and waterboarding, a technique that creates the sensation of drowning.

AMT patch - and some new tax policy

The following are the main consumer provisions to the stimulus bill signed by President Obama yesterday:

-Each eligible worker would get a credit of 6.2% of earned income up to a maximum credit of $400 ($800 for a two earner couple). This essentially equates to $12-$20 extra per paycheck. This is available to anyone who earns less than $95K per year and $190K for couples.

-First time homebuyers or homebuyers that haven’t bought a home in the past three years would receive an $8,000 tax credit for a principal residence purchased through November 30th 2009. This credit phases out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes between $75K to $95K and $150K to $170K for joint filers. This credit has to be repaid if you sell your home within 36 months.

-The credit within the federal alternative minimum tax (AMT) calculation is slightly increased for the 2009 tax year, which will reduce the amount of taxpayers subject to the AMT (Due to the tax structure in Maine, Mainer’s tend to be more susceptible to this tax).

-The first $2,400 of unemployment tax benefits will not be subject to federal income taxes.

-Taxpayers will be allowed to take an above the line deduction from income tax the state and local sales tax paid on a new car. The purchase limit is $49.5K and is applicable through the end of the year. (Although not usually applicable for Mainers, people who claim the itemized sales tax deduction already would not be eligible to claim this). This deduction phases out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes in between $125K to $135K and $250K to $260K for those married filing jointly.

Well then, you really didn't vote then, did you?
Why is it that when people criticize Obama voters, they NEVER have the balls to say who they voted for. They never say, "I voted Ron Paul".

This is what I always get, "I didn't vote McCain or Obama but...". Don't care. If you can't even fess up about who you voted for, then you don't get to participate.

Also, as MM noted below you, pretty much everything you said was wrong. How does that make you feel?

I cant stand liberal ideas no one has the right to force anyone else to be charitable. Your health problems arent mine. Your business isnt failing because of me.

Yes president bush presided over the initial bail-out and i was disgusted by it aswell.

Until obama supporters stop acting like obama is going to pay their mortgages and buy their gasoline i will continue to speak of how blind and ignorant they seem.

All you liberals need to stop depending on the fed to take care of you. Pull up your bootstraps and start helping yourselves.

It just so happens that all the things that were said by MM on the allocation of stimulus adds up to be nearly nothing compared to the rest of the stimulus. Obama has tripled the deficit he has continued to call it a no pork bill when countless pork projects have been called into the light out of the bill.

Things are bad and getting worse and instead of a hopeful message that we americans can make it through hes saying brace yourself its going to get worse. Its going to get worse and im going to need more of your money to solve this problem.

I guess you don't understand then that everything has to do with everything. My health problems actually are yours because MY health problems jack up YOUR premiums which ends up costing you (or your employer) more money. MY business failing isn't because of you, but MY business failing will influence everything in your life.

So was I. I personally believe that there shouldn't be any bail out, that failing businesses should be allowed to fail and that the private sector should be allowed to pick up those pieces, making way for new and better businesses. But obviously nobody on either side of the aisle agrees with that since the last administration passed a bail out, and this new administration is also passing a bail out.

It was McCain who suggested the gas tax holiday, it was Obama who made fun of that idea. I support Obama and I do not believe he is going to pay my mortgage. So you must be talking about the 2% of voters who actually do think that. That's called a broad generalization and it's not really the best way to make decisions. I guess you don't work in statistics though, preferring to work off of emotion instead.

You have a big misunderstanding as far as liberals are concerned. They don't depend on the fed to take care of them. They are more than capable of pulling themselves up "by their bootstraps" and helping themselves. And they do, each and every day. But again, you're talking about 2% of people, so keep talking.

Exactly my point. Baiting is not cool but it happens every day by politicians, political commentators, people I work with, everyone. We bait eachother into things and then tear them down. It's not productive. It seems like, unfortunately, suffering amuses people of all walks of life. It's very sad.

Do you think it's going to get better? Do you think it would get better if they did nothing? I think it is going to get worse in either event and to be honest, i find Obama's honesty and straight-forwardness to be a refreshing change. Bush just wanted us to spend more money, he told us everything would be just fine. It's not. At least Obama is being honest about the situation.

I think it's actually the anti-Obama supporters who are delusional, not the other way around. 2% is by no means a hard number, it is a speculation that i've come to based on the sheer number of Obama supporters i've spoken with. A very very small percentage of the people I have spoken with or had experience with, roughly 2% of those people DO NOT think Obama is coming to save the day. They think he's the new president and they support him for a wide variety of reasons, "hope" and "change" being the last on the list. They support things like pro-choice, pro-environment, bans on semi-automatic weapons, diplomacy, withdrawal from iraq, etc. I'm not saying all these things are going to get done, i'm saying THIS is why people voted for him.

Now it's my turn to share. I work in statistics every single day and when i'm done with work for the day, I go home and look at more statistics for the small business I just started (was surprising easy considering how many conservatives are saying Obama is destroying small businesses). Statistics can't be made to say whatever you want if you understand them. If you don't, well then you can be convinced easily by the person who does understand them. So don't talk to me about statistics because I have a very intimate understanding of them.

So do I, and so does Obama. It just so happens that everyone in office these days seems to think throwing money at the problem is the only solution since nobody actually has a solution. Remember, Republicans were happy to discuss a bail out when Bush was in office, and they became VERY obtuse about it now that Obama is in office. This is because they want to be on the other side incase it doesn't work.

wow thats some interesting stuff. The steaming pile of bush and company. . . . i see you have no idea what is actually going on here. The financial crisis was caused by the carter and clinton administrations forcing the banks to make unsafe loans. Bush fought a war implemented some less than seavory defense policies and still we had growth in the economy.

Then all the bad assets of the the banks created by giving out loans to people who couldnt afford them overwhelmed the financial system.

I didnt much care fore the bush administration but all you people who just wave your anti-bush flags and spout your liberal talking points are uninformed and wrong.

I hope that makes you feel more secure knowing you can regurgitate liberal points without any information sought out for yourself. . . our entire political system is a wreck and you bush bashers are so cought up in pointing figers that you completely fail to adress any real problems.

You can rely on Obama and the government to fix this crap or you can watch out for your own and take care of yourself. Quit wasting time pointing fingers.

This thread is about getting the obama bashers to look beyond the rhetoric and talking points i thik its time for you bush haters to do the same.
