Hi all,

I have just looked out at this from my home in the UK and I think I can see what your talking about. Its as you say very obvious and very bright.

Looking at the star I can see the intence flashing, which is indeed as discussed caused by atmospheric conditions and changes according to the targets angle in the sky in relation to the horizon.

Looking at the smaller less bright star to the right I can also see similar flash patterns, and then again just through binoculars even more again with similar patterns.

I would therefore suggest that this is indeed not anything unsual as this object is not displaying these light patterns itself. The similarity of stars around it would suggest that the atmospheric conditions are causing the affect on all the stars in this section.

And of course, we must not forget that the brighter the target, the more obvious the blinking will be.

Hope your all ok! and dont worry about this one!
