I applaud your concern & outreach.

I certainly understand the need for our commander in chief to be safe and secure by all means. But when the secret service are called and investigate someone's home because a police officer has the reading comprehension of a kindergartner and misinterprets a bumper sticker. You really have to stop and ask yourself, what the hell is wrong with that picture?

Sounds like a First Amendment violation if you ask me, but I highly doubt it will be considered as such.

To go a step further it looks as if the intelligence requirements to become a member of the OKC police force are..Well, pretty lenient.

I was disgusted when I read the article.

The winner is Obama the loser We The People and Obama is a community organizer. The fact of the matter is Obama has a much larger community to practice and enact his Marxist beliefs upon. This is the new generation for We The People to experience the New Trail Of Tears unless we stand United.

You gotta love some of the comments on that article.

Have any of you ever been to OK? it's over run with racist rednecks. Obviously, since the President is a black man, there is a lot of those types who would like to put a whole in him, and there are way too many in OK.

The cop equated abortion with murder? Ridiculous. We all know abortion isn't murder.

Shocked he was given back his sign and his freedom.

Pretty soon we should see a news story that tells us this man doesnt pay taxes, hates dogs and old people and steals candy from little kids.

He challenged the chosen one, his supporters wont have any of that.

Strange irony isn't it?

I'm not so sure the cop made a mistake. "Abort Obama" could be taken as a direct threat to the President. To abort is to stop, the sticker is essentially saying "Stop Obama, not the unborn".

Just like bumper stickers that say Legalize Marijuana also say "I smoke it - Arrest Me"

But then we could not speak out against anything without it being illegal?

It is that type of thinking which is why there are unlawful acts done by this police officer.

And how does Stop Obama have anything regarding a threat? He is the POTUS...OBVIOUSLY it mean't he is just against his actions regarding abortion.

At school today, somebody called me stupid...I think they wanna kill me!

Sorry to tell you this but this didn't started with Obama administration this is a legacy of administrations before him.

While I don't see anything wrong with showing a sign against Obama, I don't see it should be a surprise here since the signing of the Patriot act by the moron congress we have things like intimidation of civilians has been happening all the time.

We are just getting used to it.

The ones that are in favor of Obama will applaud the over reaction of the Police just like it happen when it was Bush one targeted.

Got to love what our nation has become.

I'm sorry but I have to address this. I'm a crazy liberal and I voted for Obama but I'm as shocked and awed by this as any republican. Of course, free speech was never free - for my side or for yours (I'm just continuing the polarization your began in your post Marg) But more to the point, I really fear where this type of behavior the Cop showed will take us. I can only hope that if this type of action becomes standard fare we will, as Americans, unite agianst it.

What does the Patriot Act have to do with this case?

Your post points to the fact, that you are unaware of how Pres.Obama voted on late term abortions, when he was in the senate. He voted for babies who were born after a failed abortion to be allowed to die, with no intervention, just let them starve to death if they survived a botched abortion. "That is what the bumper sticker was referring to!"

Hey--

Do ya think this was the "Change" that 29.1% of all eligible voters were looking for?

Or maybe it's more like that old saying:
'The more things "Change"
the more they stay the same.'

Okay, actually, it'll probably get worse.

Not that I'm a pessimist, or anything.

The idiot act I mean the patriot act

Marg, I think I hear the Secret Service knocking at your door now.

Actually, I'm surprised that the FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security, Commissars, etc. haven't raided ATS yet. If they're looking for anti-Obama signs, speech, etc., all they have to do is spend 30 seconds on ATs, and they'll have plenty. Of course, the last 8 years, there was plenty of anti-Bush talk here also. It's a miracle we're all still here.
Just to prove that all of us here are good citizens of the Socialist Republic of America, let's all stand and sing the anthem:

This happening lot more often that many wants to believe, since the patriot act and its numerous provisions the states and the authorities have powers to enforce whatever they want per interpretations of what is considered a braking of the law.

The wording of many charges has change since then in order to use more power against citizens.

I wonder everyday how we have allowed things to go so out of control while allowing our government get out of control.

We the American citizens are only to blame for what we are facing right now.

Wait when the government manage to get away with the homegrown terrorist act that is been stuff away in congress waiting for the right moment to be passed.

Well putting a bumper sticker supporting an illegal substance on your car is like radioing a cop to stop your car.

You're free to speak out against things, but likewise cops are free to stop you if they suspect you're up to no good.

As for how can "Stop Obama" be regarded as a threat, well think how exactly do you stop a person? You'd kill him, or you vote him out of office. The only way to figure out what the guy intended with the bumper sticker is to search his place.

To tell you the truth and this is the first time I will post it here, since I write so many letters to congress my husband and I had our taxes review every year since 2000.

Still that do not stop me from writing to congress.

And as for all the agencies you mention I am probably in their black list but not for posting here but for the same reason we have our taxes review for no reason.

That is also another way to intimidate us the tax payer and citizens for been to vocal.

But many have no clue of what is going on.

I just laugh.

OK, let's put this in perspective. First of all, this happened in Oklahoma City. I can understand the sensitivity of the police there, considering what happened to the Murrah Building in 1995:

Shortly after the explosion, Oklahoma State Trooper Charlie Hanger stopped 26-year-old Timothy McVeigh for driving without a license plate and arrested him for that offense and for unlawfully carrying a weapon.[1] Within days after the bombing, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were both arrested for their roles in the bombing. Investigators determined that they were sympathizers of a militia movement and that their motive was to retaliate against the government's handling of the Waco and Ruby Ridge incidents (the bombing occurred on the anniversary of the Waco incident). McVeigh was executed by lethal injection on June 11, 2001. Nichols was sentenced to life in prison. A third conspirator, Michael Fortier, who testified against McVeigh and Nichols, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for failing to warn the U.S. government. As with other large scale terrorist attacks, conspiracy theories dispute the official claims and point to additional perpetrators involved. The attacks led to widespread rescue efforts from local, state, and federal and worldwide agencies, along with considerable donations from across the country. As a result of the destruction of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, the U.S. government passed legislation designed to increase protection around federal buildings and to thwart future terrorist attacks

en.wikipedia.org...
I'm sure that as a result of that incident, the police there have been given VERY strict orders about looking for terrorists.
Now, did this incident go beyond reason? I don't know, because I wasn't there. However, the bottom line is that the citizen who was stopped was not harmed. What if he HAD been a terrorist, and no one stopped him?

That does not mean that I support the continuance of the "Patriot Act", because I don't, at least not in its present form. I'm afraid in its present form, it is too subject to abuse, and application of it to ordinary citizens that are not threats.

Calling police thugs does not help the situation though. Maybe poor judgment was used, but that does not make the police officer a thug. For the most part, policemen and policewomen are trying to protect us, not harm us. I think there are lot more honest, careful policemen than there are bankers, wall street brokers or politicians. Save your anger for those groups, it is much more appropriate.

Many of you are implying that this was caused because someone "disagreed" with the President; the Secret Service doesn't care about political beliefs, they care about potential threats on the President's life, which is their sole job except for investigating the counterfeiting of currency.

This has been going on for years; stop acting as if this is exclusive to Obama.

Eminem Threat on Bush

"Alleged" Threat Investigated

SS Investigation because of HS Year book

15 Year Old's Drawing Investigated

That being said, this situation is a bit of a stretch to consider it a threat on the President, but better safe than sorry.

Well I am with the guy... I think Obama and his whole administration need to be aborted. This guy is destroying our country and he hasn't even been in office 100 days yet. He is a wild baboon on a rampage with public tax dollars and we are worried about a guy with a sign in his car?

sheesh....
