The cost of yet another "conservative" government

Both parties are to blame. Both parties had a hand in the mess we are in now. Both parties were in Congress. Both parties voted on legislature.

It isn't a matter of who is to blame more.

Why play the blame game?

Why not just focus on how the hell to get out of the mess we are in now?

I can't speak for everyone. I'm relatively new to politics in general. I'm not that old of a guy...although sometimes I feel so.

What I do know is that when I started following politics, all I began to see where lies and corruption.

People were being led by both parties in the wrong direction, against each other.

I'm angry. I'm angry about the last 8 years. I"m angry about now. I'm angry that this country is flat broke and is going to see some extremely hard pain.

This is what I'm concerned about...NOW. Look around, things are falling apart..people are flat out angry right now.

People are starting to wake up to it. I did. It didn't take me long to realize it after I started to follow. Most people don't follow politics, but now that is changing and they are flat out pissed about what is happening.

We've been lied too, cheated, stolen from, and flat out misled by our politicians.

I've had it and I don't know why everyone else hasn't.

I will say this...

Conservative does not equal republican and liberal does not equal democratic in todays world.

Republican = Pro Life
Democratic = Pro Choice

In a perfect world, liberalism would be far more ideal. But with all of the distrust our government has, so many people oppose it (rightfully).

All I can say is that if Obama was the president instead of Bush when all of this debt added up, those same people who support Bush would be bashing Obama just because he a is a democrat.

Let us all hope Obama will actually work for the people and flip things around the best he can while keeping the citizens and the constitution in mind. As much as I respect George, he could have done better on SO many fronts.

Hopefully Obama does not make the bad decisions as well, just on the polar opposite side of the spectrum.

To the OP - don't you get tired of stirring the pot and taking cheap shots at the Republican party? Apparently not because here's yet another post where you've worked yourself into a tizzy and then ignored key facts presented by other posters.

No, SG, you've got your mind made up and you seem hell bent on taking as many people down the far left path as possible with you. Seems like the worse the current administration does, the louder you scream about how bad the Republicans are just so as to remind everyone about "the last 8 years". This is just another rant to justify your own pathetic partisanship.

the president can order troops to take action but only for 60-90 days. after that he either has to remove the troops or ask congress for authorization to extend the deployment!

Only congress can declare wars.
Only congress can ratify treaties.
Only congress can write legislation! The president signs the bills into law or veto it. Congress can then override his veto!
Only congress has the power to impose regulations or remove regulations.
Only congress can raise or lower taxes.
I think you can get the point. You asked what has the congress of the last 2 years done to contribute to this mess. EVERY F****** THING!

Congress passed every unbalanced Budget.
Congress passed spending bills loaded with pork.
Congress continues to finance 2 wars out of the general funds account! instead of financing it by selling bonds, OR cutting off funding all together and ordering the troops out!
Congress has passed 2 stimulus bills with NO WAY TO FUND THEM.
Congress has voted to bailout the auto industry with no way to fund that bailout!

After reading through some of your BS from earlier you place the blame of this starting with Reagan, I guess you never looked at Carter's policies and what happened under his watch.

Ever hear of the Savings and Loan crisis? Oh let me guess your going to say that was Reagan's fault. wrong!!!! Reagan inherited that mess from Carter. Yes it started under Carter's watch. Just Like Bush Jr. inherited this mess from Clinton!

Clinton's budget surplus yeah ok. that's been debunked hundreds of times. he robbed social security, cut military spending to the point they almost went bankrupt! and don't forget about those funny accounting methods his Administration used to cook the books to make them look good to simple minded people!

If you read the OP you would see I acknowledged carters doing in the economic crises but did fair analysis in stating it started before carter. This mess could be traced back to Nixon and Ford. Prove me otherwise, please.

And by the way, reagan tripled the debt that carter left. So this tells me plenty about the mentality of the right here.

Republicans had control of congress for 6 out of those 8years in the last administration, why you start equally distributing blame huh?

Congress cannot exert power unless there are a certain amount of votes. Majority doesnt necessary mean there is an overall decision maker. The dems had to ben over back to satisfy just 3 republican senators.

Ultimately it comes down to who supported the bill and who proposed it...merc. I thought you knew this?

Then the republican majority congress, by your accounts above, and bush will take responsibility for an unconstitutional war thats cost us in the 100s of billions, thats costing us $200 million a day right now. So yes, you go on about the "socialist dems", it seems to be what you go on about 90% of the time.

Can you tell me howmuch exact the dems contributed to this. I did my research in a prior thread, it appears dem led bills only accounted for 15% of this mess we're in, interms of debt, interms of allowing this mess to go through. Not justifying it, however small, but Im pointing out that your blame here is totally unbalanced. It always has been.

And your saying the 6years prior america was all dandy? Check my signiture, offer me proof. Because all signs to the mess can be traced back mostly before the dem congress took place. Yet there seems to be complete blame on the democratic controlled congress of the last two years, complete blame on the dems, despite the facts.

But I thought the "majority" in congress has the most power? Wasnt it a republican majority in congress from 1992-2006? So your ignoring the trillions wasted by the bush administration, putting blame completely on the 2 year congress and clinton?....

So basically you say Bush jnr has no fault and he inherited this mess from Clinton.... to which the republicans were majority in control during that entire administration... because you put all responsibility on the "majority" of congress at the time... then you blame to dem congress for two years for the entire mess we'r in, which contradicts what you said prior, then totally refuse to look towards the 6 years of republican rule.
