Were the pyramids always like we see them nowadays? I think i saw a website where the pyramids were white in colour and had precious stones engraved on them.

is there a depiction of what they could have looked like?

No, The pyramids were not as they now appear. When they were first constructed (at least the two largest pyramids) they had a "white plaster" covering the base materials. It was said that in the early morning sun or the sunsets these pyramids shone brightly. This "white plaster" had to be maintained, which for several hundreds (800-1200) years they were by the current rulers. However as time went on and the Egyptian Rulers let them slip into dis-repair. But even today, on the largest pyramid some of this "white plaster" covering is still intact near the top.
