Federally funded ad campaign holds up value of marriage

The federal government is funding a $5 million national media campaign that launches this month, extolling the virtues of marriage for those ages 18 to 30.

Research suggests a bevy of benefits for those who marry, including better health, greater wealth and more happiness for the couple, and improved well-being for children.

The family is the central core unit of our society and marriage obviously helps the family structure. This is the idea behind the new government public service announcement that promotes the benefit of getting married before age 30. Of course telling everyone they have to get married would be Orwellian, but explaining the benefits of marriage is like explaining the benefits of wearing a seat belt.

Marriage is good for the family and people who marry younger have children sooner and women who have children before the age of 30 are less likely to have complications with their pregnancy. This is a win win scenario for the government. Society would be more stable and the stability would greatly help in the production of the next generation of young Americans.

I'm wondering if its more an effort to keep younger marriages together in this economic mess...

There has been some indications that divorce among the younger crowd is growing fast from the arguments that start with money problems as a result of the downturn...

I dunno... just another thought...
