To my best friend
Whom I've known for so many years.

Beautiful poems Rush. I really connected to " A Drive ". I have six children and I've always wanted to just take off and go for the ride of my life but responsibility pulls me back to reality and I end up at home.

But your poems are very , very good and I thank you for sharing them. I look forward to reading more from you.

Thank you for the compliment Solarskye. And I only have 2 kids, I can certainly understand how you relate especially with six.

And lately I've taken a few drives.......just not gone too far. I take my time going to the grocery or gas station. But even those few extra minutes in the car by myself works wonders.

Unspoken

When I look into your eyes
I know what you feel.
Those feelings are unspoken
Yet I know they are real.

You shake your head in disbelief
As you try to absorb it all.
You don't need to say a word
As you let your emotions fall.

I am standing there to catch them,
Let them fall where they may.
I'll protect them and keep them,
Never to be placed in harm's way.

And as I intensely look back at you
With these eyes that can speak.
With a nod and a glance
I give you the answer that you seek.

But you don't just stop there,
No, you keep reading on,
And through these eyes upon you
You feel what is withdrawn.

Two people that say so little,
But yet say so very much.
When there is no luxory of our voice,
Nor the luxory of a touch.

So if ever you can't read someone
Or you can't hear what they say.
Just stop and look into their eyes,
Read them like a well written play.

You may be pleasantly surprised
At just how much you can feel,
When all that you have between you
Are a few numbing glances to steal.
