I am feeling that since The government has already launched all it's new and exciting ideas for the month, that no "good news" can save the catastrophic unemployment reports..

Fridays are the most irrational of days though.. but I am going to say a 1.5%-2.5% drop on the DOW, S&P and NASDAQ, if the payroll numbers registers at least 600,000+ jobs lost.

At the very least, lets hope for TJ's sake so that he can get rid of his freaking shorts already, because it would be terribly sad if he holds out till tomorrow afternoon and the Financials lead a 300+point rally..

Japan's Topix hits lowest close in about 25 years

TOKYO, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Japan's broad-based Topix index booked its lowest close in about 25 years on Friday, falling 1.6 percent as bank shares slipped on worries about their European peers, while exporters largely failed to benefit from a weaker yen.

The Topix shed 12.06 points to 739.53, the lowest close since January 1984.

The benchmark Nikkei average .N225 slid 1.9 percent to 7,416.38, its lowest close since Oct. 27. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)

Sorry didn't get any farther than this. FAIL!!!! Government should NEVER regulate what a person is WORTH. Credit worthy people DESERVE more credit Because they are responsible and PAY THEIR BILLS.

Gov SHOULD regulate the banks, NOT THE PEOPLE.

I have learned through my observations of Humanity that this following is a true and scientific fact:

People are to dumb, complacent and ignorant to govern themselves.

Through working with other people financial situations professionally, I have learned the following to be a true and scientific fact:

People are to ignorant and oblivious to properly regulate their own finances.

Evidence you ask?

Look at what our government has become?

Look at the savings/debt to earnings ratio/foreclosures etc?

Point proven.

I hear from the old folks that waaay back in the day, pre WWII, it was not like that..

everywhere, same process.
these days/last few years in india they are creating the house-value boom. rents are going mad and people spend more and more of their income into their housing, as the media pressure also push the sheeple to live outside the family home (and therefore also pay for a place to sleep and cook -and make love - which is totally new concept for India).

740 is the Nov low, set on 11/21/08 - an OPEX day

Yeah I think as the night progresses it will further deteriorate. We wont break it tonight that I can tell you but we may go down a little more. Tomorrow during the day though we will have a good tanking (I hope anyways) but will hold those NOV lows on the SPX. I will be shocked if we close below them. OPEX days make me nervous. I need movement and sometimes there is none on OPEX days.

I guess the market wants to hear real solutions, not the, " We have a crisis! Throw money at it!" answer anymore.

Also I would imagine talks of bailing out homeowners and keeping the housing market artificially inflated isn't exactly making confidence bleed.
