Texans report fireball in sky, sonic booms

Sonic booms and at least one fireball in the sky were reported in Texas on Sunday, less than a week after two satellites collided in space and a day after the Federal Aviation Administration asked U.S. pilots to watch for "falling space debris," authorities said.

I have wondered over the past week what that Russian satellite was carrying. If any of the debris reaches the ground I'd bet a full dollar that there will be agents waiting to collect it, for the public's "safety" of course.

NORAD tracks all kinds of "objects" floating in space, down to mere inches in length. This one collision caused up to 600 pieces to be added to their tracks. What was the initial need for such sensitive equipment?
