the chance of collision with Apophis is very small and is set as probable NOT in the next 5 years.
it's one thing to talk about a collision 20 -100 years from now and another thing to talk about a collision that is about to happen within a year or
two. so, no, I do not expect the government to warn citizens about the collision- it would create chaos.
so, let's keep an eye on this new object P/2010 A2.

Apophis comes much closer to Earth than the object you referenced.
Look at the orbit on the wikipedia page. It shows that the object you referenced never comes within the orbit of Mars. Let's see. Which comes closer Apophis or P/2010 A2?
It's one thing to point to an object which has some chance of smiting the Earth and another that has ZERO chance.
