Continental Crash 3407, Plane was safest to fly in ice?!?!

Normally, ice should not have been a problem for the Continental Connection plane. The Q400, built in Toronto by Bombardier, is known for its ability to fly in wintry conditions.

It has several types of de-icing equipment, including systems for its wings, tail, propeller blades and windshield, which are prompted to operate by automatic sensors.

Yeah sure sounds like ice was the problem, according to this article this is one of the safest planes to fly in cold weather, and it is used for colder climates, Makes perfect sense that it would crash with ice right? It even goes on to state that it did have ONE problem with ice, that was fixed in newer models of the plane, WHICH IS EXACTLY what this plane was, it was built AFTER THE FIX!
