I first discovered his work when I purchased Koyaanisqatsi (life out of balance) a few years back. I was spellbound by the power of the coupling of the visuals with the minimalist score that of this beautiful piece of art.

For those that know of him, please share the pieces you prefer. For those that are unfamiliar, enjoy this composers genius.

Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi (1983)

In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means 'crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living'

Music Box

That last one was my introduction to Glass' work. Lovely stuff... unfortunately, embedding seems to be disallowed, and I can't find a different version, so... linked.

Thank you all for sharing. I've yet to run into a piece of his work that has not pulled me right in and intoxicated my senses.

PhilipGlass.com: Jokes

A friend of mine gave me a Philip Glass record. I listened to it for five hours before I realized it had a scratch on it.
