Rapelay virtual rape game banned by Amazon

www.telegraph.co.uk

A PC game that allows players to gang rape virtual women – and then force them to have an abortion – has been banned from Amazon
In Rapelay, gamers direct a character to sexually assault a mother and her two young daughters at an underground station, before raping any of a selection female characters.

The game was intended for release just in Japan, but was on offer to British buyers through Amazon Marketplace, the section of the online store's website open to third-party sellers.

But Amazon has now withdrawn the game after complaints from users, deeming it to be inappropriate. "We determined that we did not want to be selling this particular item," a spokeswoman said.

What in the world is gaming coming to???

I live in the world of Astriods and Qubert when it comes to computer games. I even play a good game of chess. I'm also aware that I've just dated myself...sigh.

But WTF is this F&*^^&&piece of*^^&&&!!!!

I understand that it was to be a Japan only release, but come on!!! You know that it wont stay in the far east for long.

Are they really out of idea at the gaming centers that they have to resort to a game like this??

You can't tell me the Grand Theft Auto is now so boring that you'll have to get this off the Grey market.

I guess that I just don't get it and for that matter, the Japanese culture, who to a certain extent, allows this sort of thing. By that I mean the whole pedophile thing.

I guess that I was raised with different standards.

LOL you must have no idea what they have out there.

But in the end they are just games. I don't see how you could be fine with violence, rape, death, destruction, demons, evil, in movies and games.

But once anything sexual comes up in a game, oh no!!

This is why Japan does not put money into releasing many of their games to western people, because of people with your opinions. They know people will make a big deal out of it, and cause problems.

But I see why you would be shocked thou lol.

This is just disgusting. Rape games? Don't tell me this won't instill the perversion of rape in the minds of young men and boys. The creators of this game should be shot!

These creators are obviously pedophiles and rapists, even if they haven't acted on it!

Yeah this game concept is ill.

However, it was likely designed by some pimply-faced, techno-geek teenagers who can't get a date anyway - so don't be hating on the Japanese in general. That's a big, irrelevant leap and I think you should rephrase your comments.

Please don't hack me pimply-faced, techno-geek teenagers...

Well I dare you to go find them and shoot them. We will see who's the most disgusting then lol.

Japan has a game culture of doing Dark games like that.

BUT they are also more known to make, very bright, happy, love story games. That seems way more friendly than some american games you see these days.

I've seen some pretty sick PC games dating back at least 5 or 6 years now, I think its just a way for a company who are nobodies to try and make a splash, pretty disturbing though.. only in Japan!

Anything going to happen to the obvious weirdo's who made this game?

No of course not, lol.

The people who made this game make several different type of games, from sweet and cute to dark and scary, it's just business.

I got more info when I checked out the site in the article, Illusion.jp, you might want check it out and make a final conclusion.

If your under 18, don't look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I myself have a pretty twited sense of humor and am extremely open minded but this crosse the line. i play pleny of 1st person shooters which are very visually graphic and enjoy them.

The problem is that this will create, whether you believe it or not, a morally desensitized generation.Especially when played by children who haven''t even had any real life experiences other than virtual reality.

I'm not going to even express my opinion because I will be labeld criminal by the new "HATE SPEECH" but the makers should have implied to their lives, what they portray in the games and see if it's still funny or worth pursuing. ]

I guess I stated my opinion anyway.

I think we need to give credit to most people, that most people really can tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

I'm sure people fantasize about all sorts of things I don't want to know about lol, ( like killing their boss, or becoming a super soldier destroying everything in their path, even playing cowboy and indians is fantasy etc) but if they were to see it in real life, they would feel sick lol, they would never even think about doing anything close to it in real life.

Most people do have a healthy way of knowing the difference between fantasy and reality.

It's those who don't we need to worry about.

I definately agree with ya. Most people do. The issue is that children get their hands on these games and as I stated, they have yet to experience an real life situations and this gets imbedded in them.

I know we say it's the parent's faults, but we have to be real. A parent can only protect and be around a child so much. I know when I was a kid, I was climbing the side of 3 story school buildings from window top window until I got on the roof.

Wasn't my parents fault. Children have a curiosity instinct, natuarally explore and WILL find a way to especially get what they're forbidden to.

I just think if society is so fast to blame the parents they should also take responsibility. I know I can only protect my kids from so much when they're being bombarded from every angle. Unless I cut them off from all society.

Again I do agree with you but society also needs to be responsible for what they contribute. They are part of the problem but like to point fingers. And yes i love my games.

You are right about children, I was like that, but games never affected me really. (there are some children with special needs, if they watch something, it seriously affects them, like a kid in my school was not allowed to watch wrestling, because it made him crazy about wrestling lol)

I think your right about the children, but I also think some people underestimate a lot of children, they understand more than we realise, well at least that's how I felt as a child, lol.

The problem these days is children can figure out how to download anything!, so if they can't buy something they are not allowed to get, they will secretly download it, I think some parents need to at least be aware of that lol.

haha oh, japan!

studio ghibli this is not! hehe those crazy guys go crazy for hello kitty, honor quest manga, tree spirits but then they also like hardcore henti and simulated rape, bukkake, cosplay and buying schoolgirls knickers in vending machines!

I'm glad that amazon don't sell games like this, i would be angry however if they were banned from all shops - We don't need to be forcing this down peoples necks however it does exist, we've just got to live with that.

I don't know about instances of rape in japan but i'm sure they're about the same as in any other advanced nation - in fact i do know (or rather have read convincing accounts) that statistically rape is highest in the catholic world,, repressed people at some point snap while those more likely to indulge worry free in the services of a sex worker or one night stand never reach breaking point. Yes of course if rape was acceptable as a form of entertainment then people would grow used to a twisted form of joy and maybe this would lead them to doing wrong deeds, however by constantly denying or trying to ignore that part of you maybe also you think about it the same amount of time?

Many a churchman could tell you the lurid and dispicable acts of a sinner, the twisted sex parties and drug fueled binges - Many of them even write semi-pornographic literature, complex tales of desperation and human sex slavery, hehe i've read a fair few - the 'promise keepers' spring to mind as does 'pink cross' the anti-porn site (incidentaly that guy knows ALL the different types of porn) - It could be said that their erotic rape and abuse fantasy is just as, if not more, likely to turn into an obsession which causes action.

That said, the subway in japan is not safe for prudish women during rush hour, heh i know this from a non-prudish woman's first hand experience
All sorts of mesures have been put in place to stop the wondering hands, yet still it's a problem there. Then again it's one of the few first world nations to be openly racist, shops can display signs reading "no white man" or "japanese only" and some areas are still very deprived economicly -it's a mixed up contry, they've had a very bizare history totaly unlike ours we can't understand them the same way we understand ourselves (i.e. western nations)

That said again; you can buy a sex slave in London or New York smuggled from eastern europe, S&M is BIG money, most citys have lapdanceres, brothals, sex shops, off most peoples radar bestiallity is and always has been fairly common, a shockingly large number of people are found dead while performing autoerotic acts, etc, etc.... We are hardly pure and virginal as a nation either

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good game of Grand Theft Auto now and then but I think a game made just to rape is plain wrong and has no place in our society. There is nothing fun or entertaining about rape virtual or not.

Whats next virtual kid touching?

Japan has a history of that in the sense they tend to come out with very questionable content in games and several other things too.

As soon as I seen Japan I wasn't surprised at all. They have adult movies like that, anime (spelling?) that crosses pretty much every line and here in the US you can be prosecuted for having making the Bart Simpson child porn case look like kindergarten.

Very first time on the internet back in the early 90's ran across a site and thought oh cool Japanese cartoons. Ya I made a mental note of the name and stayed away from those cartoons ever sense, quite disturbing.

In all honesty makes Leisure Suit Larry look like rabbi.

I suggest the woman in Japan get on the job of empowering woman and slam dunking anything that would legally allow this psychotic game maker from spreading his hatred and violence against women to children. After all, democracies HAVE TO BE POLICED BY CITIZENS!!!!!!! And especially by women. There is no excuse for this to be legal in any country anywhere in the world. Whatever legal clause anyone spreading hatred and violence is using must be addressed ASAP!!!!!!!!

Edit to add: When addressing such loop holes and laws, care must be excercised as well. I can imagine a scenario where we will be bombarded with extreme things to ensure a tightening of laws, but when "they" do this, it will be worded in a way that curtails even more freedom of expression. Whereas women have lobbied for years against this kind of hatred against them being legal, it nonetheless has to be done in a careful specific manner!

This could be coming out as a conspiracy and the cabal could be behind it, counting on my reaction, which still stands and has stood for years against hatred against women being legal in any media, however, things must be worded carefully so as not to fall into "their" trap!

LOL, it's not A game maker, it's a huge game culture in japan. It's normal there. Some of the women, before becoming actresses, do voice acting for these games, most are happy, love, cute story games. But there are also plenty of dark games that has anything imaginable in them. But of course they are not allowed to show genitals LOOOOL. Rather ironic.

If you want to ban a game like this, then that means we should also shut down all Art galleries, we would be stopping peoples freedom of art. We should also ban all movies, all games, and all freedoms...maybe we should ban your avatar too, hmmmm.

Also from what I've read, don't worry, men also get raped by women, and women rape women in some of these games lol.
