TIME Magazine's next issue contains an article called 25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis

There are pictures, a short bio and a voting option on each one for how guilty you find each one. It's a pretty good article. It gives me some pleasure to see the faces and know that I'm not the only one who feels like I want someone to blame.

I love how the American Consumer is 5th on the list (or in the slideshow). And, from the tone of the "bio", I can't tell why we are to blame. Saving? Spending? Borrowing? Living beyond our means?

Or, maybe it's a combo of everything.....

That's quite a list! It's like trying to choose your favorite dessert - too many delicious options.

My top three? Cassano, Cox and Consumers. CDS on over-valued mortgages for greedy home-buyers.

Lol gotta love it. When will the Bush bashing ever end? His bio was very weak and contradicted itself.

"Bush did push early on for tighter controls over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but failed to move Congress."

Oh my god?! He wanted to keep things regulated??? Surely he is to blame!

"And after the Enron scandal he backed and signed the aggressively regulatory Sarbanes-Oxley Act."

Again.. Bush wanted regulation. Most democrats didn't want it though

"Plus, let's face it, the meltdown happened on Bush's watch."

Just.... LOL

So please explain to me how Bush is to blame? Sounds like it was congress making it harder to regulate companies.

They left out the 2 most notorious, Barney frank and Christopher Dodd, why are these 2 scumbags not on the list?

Barney Frank was having sex with the CEO of freddie Mac, they were lovers and conspirators.

I would say the American Consumer took on housing loans they couldn't afford, didn't practice "buyer beware" to sift through their contracts and educate themselves on ballooning payments, and yes, lived beyond their means by borrowing and charging thousands of dollars on credit cards and loans.

But I'm not at fault because I did NONE of that.

stinkhorn, sex doesn't have anything to do with the financial crisis. It's free.

I reject the notion that you have to choose ONE. Read the bios of all 25. Those aren't made up works of fiction. They all happened. As such, they are all equally to blame for this financial mess, yes even the American consumer.

You cant even narrow this down to people.
A lot of it stems from policy.. some put into effect 10, 20 even 80 years ago (i.e. FED etc..).

It's pretty easy to see that the consumer population is at large at fault since apparently they are still looking to blame others instead of themselves.

Actually, Barney was being blachmailed at the time by his other ghey lover threating to reveal his gheyness, so free it wasnt for him. He is the chairman of the banking committe, he is right smack dab in the problem, yet he wasnt listed because he is a huge liberal with power still in office.

These 2 libs forced banks to give loans to minorities with credit scores below 300, that mean you never pay your bills ontime or at all, yet they wanted them to own a home, sorry, homeownership is not for everyone.

No one said you have to choose one. Like you said, they're all guilty. Where did you get that you can only choose one?

How appropriate it is for the very liberal/left leaning Time Magazine to report their poll findings based on the polling results of some 2000-odd biased, uniformed, brain-dead readers.

It's to these readers that a dying, little read magazine continues to spread its lies, knowing they won't be challenged!

If the Times had bothered to report on an unbiased and truthful poll of the general population, the list would be very short and would read:

1. Barney Frank
2. Chris Dodd
3. All the liberal/socialists in Congress that allowed home mortgages to be given to those that could ill afford it.
4. Period!!

I guess when we enter the next great depression, Time will have a poll where they'll say... "Plus, let's face it, Depression 2 happened on Obama's watch." Yeah, sure...

Time Magazine - just a freaking joke!

I posted this elsewhere and will include it here. Time Magazine is nothing more than a Democrat cheerleader. They campaigned more aggressively for Obama than Obama did!
He appeared on 12 successive covers and appeared on more than 35% of Time's covers last year. I should know, that rag is delivered to my house every Saturday!

I took a very careful look at the list and it is a joke!
It takes a very jaded person to blame only the crooks for stealing the money that the bankers left lying on the front porch!
I couldn't help but notice how they conveniently avoided naming any Democrats who aided or abetted the process.

Wonder why Bill Clinton is on the list, then. You didn't even look at it, did you?

I'm sorry, but I blame it on uneducated voters that keep these idiots in office long after they should of expired. This one right here scares me to death. And I'm sure there are many more where he came from.

It's perfectly OK for a Democrat to bash Clinton now that Lord Obama is on the scene. I'm surprised you didn't see that trend during the primaries.

Anyway not including Barney Frank and Chris Dodd on this list is a farce.

I don't even know what that means.

Why don't you elaborate? If you think these guys are guilty (and I am not disagreeing) what exactly did they do that contributed so greatly to the crisis? And please provide links so I can check it out.
