Nazi hunters quiz Germany over 'Dr Death'

www.news.com.au

NAZI hunters are demanding an explanation from Germany as to how "Doctor Death", one of the world's most wanted war criminals, was apparently able to live freely in Egypt for 30 years.

According to an investigation by The New York Times and German TV last week, former SS doctor Aribert Heim had escaped to Egypt in the 1960s, where he converted to Islam and died in 1992 of cancer.

What is the whole point of chasing him when he died in 1992? I've seen a few news items like this recently, where the NAZI hunters are either chasing corpses, or they're chasing old, senile men.

Why?

Here's a solution that will save time and money - someone either covered up or stuffed up the fact that Dr Death was living in Egypt for many years. Get over it! No new investigation will reveal who's 'fault' it was. No one is going to admit to it and trusting hearsay after 30+ years is pointless.

A spokesman for the German foreign ministry said Berlin was taking the issue "very seriously" and that there would be a "thorough investigation."

Finding his remains could be complicated because according to last week's report his body was disposed of in a paupers' grave where a large number of other corpses will have ended up in the intervening 17 years.

Why bother trying to find his remains? He is dead. DEAD!

NAZI hunters, bloody well give it up. Concentrate on the future. You've made your point, no one is forgetting the past... or are they? It seems some civillians around the planet are still being persecuted by foreign military forces in various 'camps'.

man i would love to make a two word post to this thread, but i blather on a bit even though only two words should be necessary.

operation paperclip

the stupidity of questioning how one nazi could live in egypt for years unmolested and ignoring the dozens flown to the US immediately after the war should be self evident.

also, he didn't go to egypt until 1962, before that he was in baden-baden according to the article, the reason this isn't an issue isn't explained particularly.

is the problem that he was a nazi or that he was a nazi living in a muslim country? it couldn't be a matter of suggesting guilt by association by any chance.

Why don't the Nazi hunters demand answers from the American and British governments? After all, they were in charge at the end of the war, not the Germans.

Seriously, any excuse for these bozos to put the "N" word front and centre again. I hope the Germans, politely, tell them where to go.

This is just a distraction designed to get people to talk about how evil the Nazis were to the Jews. The guy died a long time ago. It isn't news, it is sensationalism.

Heck, the Pope was Hitler Youth, why don't they talk about that as he is still alive.

Edited to add: A recent international poll was published by the BBC regarding peoples positive feelings about various nations around the world. Germany came out as most liked nation, while Israel was at the very bottom as most disliked along with Iran, Pakistan, and North Korea. Kind of Ironic that Nazi hunters are still trying to stir up controversy with Germany. They should head to South America instead.

This hunters crusade is just shameful.

I'm sickened and appalled that the very regime they condemn has become their modem operendi in the name of "Justice".

Deplorable indeed.

my thoughts too, they have created a symbiotic relationship with the USA that helped a lot of Nazi's get into the USA with Operation Paperclip.

He without sin casts the first stone.
