ok, so last night. i was drawing on paper.
when i noticed all the colours i could see. the page was like a rainbow.
transparent. blue green yellow pink red purple this kind of thing, i could focus on one colour if i thought of it. ok. but then i start to focus, and my brain begins to pulsate and my ears feel like thier going to pop, and my body begins to feel fuzzy and sort of numb, as i begin to go further into these colours.
I started seeing fractuals, numbers, shapes, colours. it looked kind of computerised like my mind was looking at a different universe. so I started freaking out and I stopped. it hurt like hell, and i thought i was gonna die. I don't know how to explain this, it doesnt make sense, didn't really know where to post it. but I wondering if anyone had experienced something like this before, or might have an explaniation.

it was as if i was looking at the design itself. like a whole universe, it was a city of colour and shapes as vivid as you and me

Hey, this is my first post on ATS in months, be happy lol.

Yeah, I do this every now and then on purpose, not so much the colors, I have trouble when it comes to colors.

I'm into eastern/shaman beliefs,

It may be that you were just learned to manipulate your energy, chakras, or brainwaves.

My imagination, visualsations and dreams(unless lucid) have always been black and white and dull for me, your blessed to naturally see colors so easy.

I do this often though, I can see waves and lights if i try, especially if I enter theta or alpha brainwaves.

And the pressure or feeling in your head you feel is energy. It feels kinda like you just learned how to control a muscle and move it around your body, or up from your chest into your head, and the more you concentrate, the more pressure you feel on your forhead, eyes and you feel like theres pressure inside of your ears. Correct?

Check your side vision, does it oddly seam like your eyesight has slightly improved?

Has your state of mind changed?

It's quite interesting to experiment with it.

I can do it easly with all of my chakra points and around my body, but its much easier with the aid of a psychedelic.

Sorry if I ramble a lot.

I’ve had this happen three times lately.

I’ll be working on the computer and I’ll see a tiny sliver of prism like light in one of my eyes.

After a bit - if I don’t close my eyes and relax - the diamond shape expands and I see prisms that cloud my vision in mostly my dominant eye.

The prisms are bright as diamonds and when it appears I can’t read or continue working on the computer.

I stop, lay down and close my eyes and the fractals/prisms stop and it’s back to work I go.

I think it’s eye strain - who knows.

Will keep an eye on this post to see if another explanation pops up...

peace

What are fractuals? Did you coin the word? Or are you talking about fractals?

Not a one-liner.

lol, yeah i kind coined it in a way, i actually miss spelt it. but thats the only thing i can relate it to. also kinda like those pictures where theres a hidden image inside it, when you focus. but i sort of naturally moved into a a world of colours and shapes moving around each other, but also numbers i remember seeing numbers, just strange. the pressure in my head was extreme, but i read a lot of things, so im wondering if theres some kind of alternative reality, that we can tap into, by focusing. otherwise it scared the hell out of me

look up on chakras and meditation, light workers and stuff if you want to know more. Just becarefuly not to get into anything where there are group leading figures or "Decended Masters" and such, their usually BS.

If you can find it there is a book called something like "New Energy Ways 2" or something like that.

Why would you post this in a metaphysics forum and not a medical one?

This sounds like a neurological problem, like seizures.

The OP's description doesn't match mine - but yours does.
I don't see numbers or images, just this coloured prism thing, just as if looking through a diamond, it gets bigger and bigger and obscures my vison. Sometimes it's so bad I can't see barely at all. Closing my eyes doesn't make it go away. It's as if everything is melting in my visual field on one side. It has a jagged shape too around the edges of the prism.

Lasts for about 15 mins then finally fades away. For me I don't connect it to eye strain, it's happened when I've not been doing anything and even shortly after waking up in the am. I usually start rinsing my eyes with cold water in case something was in my eye. However, I should say I have retinal damage in one eye (torn retina from a head trauma from an assault), and not sure which eye it was or if it's on same side. So I thought it might be from that.

btw i've never had a seizure

LOL, Im' glad I actually read the whole thread, because each of you would post what I was thinking next.

First, I would have said that you were probably stoned. Then, I was thinking you just went into a self-hypnotic trance (or meditation, if you will) like I did in summer camp one time where the center of my brain was buzzing and my skin got all numb and I started slapping myself around to snap out of it.

The ears feeling like their about to pop is similar to going into an OBE or consciously re-entering sleep from a sleep paralysis state. But, for me, it's not a high-pitched ringing, but more like a bell ringing from an old telephone... and like sounds of tearing. But, it's painless. Is that how it is?

Then, if that's not enough, when you mentioned numbers, well, now your sounding like the mathematical savants when they report seeing numbers with colors. And, these gifts usually come with some sort of epilepsy. So, you've got a lot to think about.

See I didn't get any of this popping thing, nor do I mediitate!
Do you get this visual disturbance?

I think for me it's a medical condition.

Here is something cool you can try that I did about a month back. Close you eyes and instead of letting your mental vision muscles relax, pretend like you are looking into the darkness as if there is really something to see out there. Then, as you see little flickers of lights, just watch them without trying to change them or affect them... totally passive.

You might notice how usually you will only imagine things that you want to imagine, but then suddenly something totally out of left field will pop into your vision and with a lot more clarity. And you just know that it wasn't something that you were about to think about and so must be from your subconscious.

Just keep doing this and watching passively and you will see some totally radical #, like once suddenly this huge pantheon-like room appeared with tall columns made of silvery marble. But, all this looked more simulated and had this high-end graphics look to it. Then, suddenly, about 500 silver ball bearings came flying in from outside through the tops and bottoms and then bounced all around totally symmetrically until they came to rest. It was like a psychedelic pinball machine. And, I swear, I wasn't high at all.

Then, sorry for rambling, but trip reports always get me pumped!.... then, the best part was after it was black again, this half-bird, half Star God appeared. It was so #ing cool. It had it's wings flared out forward and what would be like technologically advanced legs and tallons that held up some crystal sphere with silvery stuff inside. The head was more humanoid than like a bird, but the body was like that of a hawk or eagle. It had deep purple wings and back with a black underbelly. I feel compelled to sculpt it.

Anyway, let us know what you learn, I'd like to hear them.

The visual bit sounds kind of like shiners you get (and I used to get, it sucked) during migraines.

Well, you didn't mention any other neurological or mind altering effects, so it doesn't really sound like what the OP and I are talking about. And retinal tears can cause floaters, which I have, which can cause blurrs in vision, but mine float around. But, I'm sure you know about floaters.

wow a post after my own vision. I used to get these fractal shards in my ees for like 2-5 years straight, a part of my 'minds eye" not my eyes, would impose in my visual cortex, a shard of motion, and color in a cornicopia shape but moving and shrinking with eye strain relaxation techniques i figured out to calm it, it was annoying.

I normally see moving patterns and wall angles slightly bend back and forth..to me its part of reality now. And I see small light particles, but ive also heard these symptoms could be a tumor or brain problem. i hope it s just flashbacks..

I think you mean flashers... and no, not the kinds that run behind TV news anchors reporting on location
I actually went to a specialist over those because I was getting them so much. He found nothing, so I just chalked it up to being stressed and over worked without exercising and too much caffeine.

I just this week had a eye exam that lasted for over an hour and I have to go back in two weeks for a one hour visual acuity test because I have been experiencing some weird visual phenomenons.

My problem is a little different. I see things a bit in reverse.

I see the space around objects and have to concentrate to pop the picture into view. It is really hard to explain. You have seen those pictures where there are really two pictures in one according to how you look at them, well, I see the negative image first and then have to make myself see the positive image.

It started several months ago and it used to happen every once in a while but it became progressively more frequent until I could not stand it any more. So I told my doctor about it she scheduled these weird eye exams. So far they can't find anything wrong.

Now to hear you speak of your new experience really has me wondering if it may be something environmental that is causing it.

I was talking more about silo's symptoms. I've also seen what I had called halos, but not flashers. Could be the same thing - part of my visual field, mostly in one eye, was obscured by something shining and silvery. It sucked, a lot, especially combined with the great deal of pain and mental confusion.

It sucked.

Oh, speaking of eye exams, I probably need one. Partially because my right eye sucks, and partly due to my myopia (glasses to be used in lecture halls). Eye dilation and direct eye pressure tests freak me out a lot (yeah, yeah...). Is there a way I can get my eyes checked the same way without dilation? I know Optomap seems promising, but hell if I know.

What you're describing sounds exactly like an ophthalmic migraine, or ocular migraine. I get these, too, sometimes. They're really strange, and not at all painful, like you would expect a migraine to be.

They start out with a scintillating 'prism-like' effect, kind of in a blob, like you describe:

Then, it sort of expands outward, into a ring, the center is more 'normal' than the outer edge, which is constantly flowing/shifting:

The ring then, over the course of 15-20 minutes, grows outward, constantly shifting all the time:

The pictures don't really do it justice, because there's all kinds of colors and prism-like distortions in there. After the effect expands to fill most of the peripheral vision, it slowly fades.
