Personally, based on observations of government control, there is not one religion controlling The People, but the 'Chosen People' of all religious fanaticisms that have united under the guise of 'brotherhood' to force their version of God on 'the heathens'. Sure there is some struggling of the 'brotherhood' to see which individual cultish, fanatical, fascistic group gets the majority of the spoils, but one group of 'chosen people' does not harm another 'chosen people' (unless it's God's Will) - after all, THEY ALL KNOW THAT THE HEATHENS MUST BE CONTROLLED, and the only way to do that unto eternity is to shift power back and forth as needed to make sure 'The People/Heathens' will always be controlled by at least one group of 'chosen people'. They simply have to wait their turn for the majority of the spoils.
