US Senate approves stimulus plan

news.bbc.co.uk

The Democratic-controlled Senate voted 61-37 to approve the measure, with few Republicans opting to back it.
President Barack Obama welcomed the vote as a good start. It came as the US Treasury Secretary unveiled a bank bail-out plan worth some $1.5 trillion.

I don't like the look of this and i also don't like how they have $1.5 trillion plan as well ... where are they getting all of this money? i watched obama's address last night and he mentioned that we had the resources for these? what are these resources? the printing machines for more money? or the taxpayer's pockets ... i just don't know what we need to do but this surely isn't it...

Yes. Absolutely. All downturns in the stock market are due entirely to people who hold that personal liberty is the highest virtue of a democracy merely existing. 'Libs', if you will.

Well, so much for my paycheck. May as well just start signing everything directly to the DC hacks, they know how to spend it better than I.

Here is the link to see how your Senators voted on socialism.

Personal liberty? Liberals? Sorry, liberals want socialism, they want the gov to run, control and take care of every little problem. Oh, by the way, we do not live in a democracy, we are a republic. We dont even practice democracy, we have a representational system.

Funny, the bill passes and the market crashes exactly when it is announced, huh, go figure. Maybe the markets are worried about the influx of a trillion made up dollars and who will have to pay for it.

Obviously you know nothing about the stock markets and what influences them. All it takes is 5 seconds of your time and a google search to find out why they are going down.

Three Republicans voted for the package while the rest voted against it. All Democrats in the Senate voted for it. I guess that's all Pelosi and Reid needed to push this thing through was for three Senators across the aisle sympathetic to the plight of ailing bankers.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has said that this stimulus package is harmful over the long haul (www.washingtontimes.com...), a view supported by others such as Marc Faber (caps.fool.com...).

God help us all. We're seriously going to need it now.

The bill is nothing now but joke at the expenses of the tax payer in the nation.

The shadow of the original bill nothing more, ridden with irresponsible spending in a bloated trillion dollar debt.

Yup, just 3 moderates is all it took. Now the joint committe will use the same stronghanded tactics and in a week all those that got the Dems elected get their kickback. After all, this is what the voters said they wanted back in November.

I posted right after the election that I didnt like Obama the man, but held judgement on Obama the POTUS, figured it was only right to give the guy a shot. After what Ive seen so far and now his old school ways of running the show, I give up.

Maybe its time to start in on my state legislature to abandon the Union. This is bad and only going to get worse.

I feel bad for our country, but worse for all of the hard work and sacrifice our founders put into this nation. Only to have Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama wipe it all away.

funny, pelosi is more of a president than obama.

im just goint to sit back and watch the fire works if this thing fails. remember, if i went into debt and purchased more items with a credit card, that doesnt mean i am out of debt.
