Wow, first let me ask what happened to that elegant speaker that everyone raved about during campaign speeches? There were some awfully long pauses.

For an optimist, it seemed to be a very heavy doom and gloom if we don't do things his way. I somewhat agree that if the government does nothing then things will not get better. But I do not feel that spending money on groups and agencies that helped him financially and physically during the campaign is much of an answer to solving the problems.

At least twice he blamed the Bush Administration on the economic situation, but other than signing or vetoing a bill the President has zero control over spending bills. A President can suggest policy and ideas, but is Congress that has to compose and vote to approve such bills.

Also he did throw some blame (ambiguously toward congressional republicans) for the Bailout being aimless. Yet took no responsibility for his own time in the Senate...I guess he was voting NOT PRESENT on those days.

Needless to say, the speech as a whole seemed a bit rudderless and did little to inspire confidence in the situation.

But on a positive note, he at least recognizes that there is a problem, that banks need to make loans available and that people are becoming seriously worried about their immediate future's well-being. Makes him at least five steps ahead of what Bush was at the end.

Ah, that's your opinion and your desired talking points. What he came to address, he was great and on point. Period!

He's only good at reading speeches and regurgitating prepared answers. Anything else, he sounds like a boxer who has taken one too many hits to the head.

His speech sucked!

It was all doom and gloom and it was nothing but fear mongering. Basically he was saying that America will collapse if we don't do it HIS way which is nothing but big government and socialism. Sad, just sad.

Give me a break!
Perhaps the government should stop interfering and give me and business a large chunk of our money back.

HIS SPEECH rocked!

It was candid and nuanced - He gave pros and cons and addressed the concerns of "FISCAL CONSERVATIVES" - and then gave his positions and reasonings.

I guess he should have not given any reasons... Nothing will satisfy you guys.

Fear mongering? OUR country has lost 1,500,000 jobs in three months...

at this rate our country would lose 6,000,000 jobs in a year and 24,000,000 in four years...

So I ask you why did you not criticize BUSH when he was busy racking up the debt?
- more than doubling it in his time in office..

Where were your fiscal tendencies all these last eight? WHERE was your protest then?

The AYN RAND fascist ideas have not worked very well have they?

I sure liked the $5.00 gas

good luck in 2012 - Go Palin!

I was disappointed, and he put me to sleep with his drone. I literally fell asleep in my armchair.

but bush did the same crap with his bailout. the onlything that makes this shocking is all the obama campaing posters said "HOPE, and CHANGE" not "FEAR" and "STATUS QUO"

another corporate puppet president courtesy of our banker robber baron overlords. hand over you wallets and nobody gets hurt...maybe. muhahah.

Translation: My way or the highway.

He only gave HIS liberal spin of what he thinks is the argument of the 'other' side. Good grief.

Fear mongering?

Yes!

So I ask you why did you not criticize BUSH when he was busy racking up the debt?

I did criticize Bush about spending so what's your point?

Where were your fiscal tendencies all these last eight? WHERE was your protest then?

I was complaining during the Bush administration because he was acting like democrats regarding spending. So again, what's your point?

I can criticize Bush and Obama about their problems. Apparently you are blinded.

I sure liked the $5.00 gas

And what was it right before Obama took office? $1.60. Yeah, that was good!
Again, so what's your point. You sure are good at NOT making points.

Good luck in 2012 - Go Palin!

I cannot wait and I'm glad we agree. Go Palin!!
