I pose to you this question

What exactly is insanity.

I do believe that there are people in this world with mental problems but when i try to define what insanity is i kind of hit a paradox as to wether or not insanity is in all cases insanity.
For example, I believe in Aliens not in the little green men way but in the beings from another planet/universe/dimension, and im sure alot of others on this forum believe in them too.
I also believe in astral projection, meditation, demons, mind control projects, remote viewing, psionics, i believe that whilst in an astral projection that i travelled to saturn and i can remember this very very clearly
I also believe in a creator that used intelligent design to create us without making us look created, altough im not sure if this creator is a god, spirit or alien etc.
all of these beliefs could classify me as insane and im sure that if i spoke to a proffesional about these beliefs that i would get sectioned, although despite this i live a normal life, i am very happy have many friends and spend sufficient time with my family, i also do not believe i am insane.

many many people who are taken to these hospitals to "get better" say that there is nothing wrong with them and they have lived normal lives, but because of their beliefs they were taken away.
have you ever thought that these people just know more than us.

I know i dragged it on a bit but i just had to get my point across as this has been bugging me for some time(since someone called me myself insane).

I look forward to hearing everyones thoughts

A person has to be diagnosed with a disorder to be "taken away" to an asylum

A person over 18 has the right to refuse being "taken away" to an asylum

No one ever get's thrown into the loony bin for believing in a few conspiracy theories, it is when the paranoia of these ideas begins to hurt themselves or others.

There is dark force working to hide many truths from us, however that dark force is nothing more than the fat cats with cigars controlling the puppet strings of the world through media, money, pop culture, and fear.

Mental illness tends to be categorised - i.e. there are defined and accepted expectations for symptoms associated with each illness. Therefore, it's acknowledged that someone with schizophrenia will tend demonstrate x, y and z symptoms ; whilst someone with a general psychosis will demonstrate a, b and z.

It's possible for anyone of us to demonstrate one, or a few, of these symptoms without being classed as having a mental illness. It's when these symptoms occur with other relevant symptoms that one might have concern.

For example, I may have a committed belief that the Pope is trying to kill me. That doesn't necessarily equate to me having a mental illness, even though others may consider it to be a deluded belief. However, if that belief occurred alongside other symptoms affiliated with a mental illness, then mental illness might be a consideration.

The interviews involved in diagnosing mental illnesses tend to be exhaustive and robust. Unless someone fulfills the criteria required by the DSM-IV (the most accepted list of diagnostic signs, symptoms and requirements) for a specific mental illness, then in reality, they shouldn't be diagnosed with that illness.

Hope this helps

What basically started me off on this was a book i recieved called writings from a person labelled mentally insane, and in this book was so much stuff that i could relate to.
Everything was written as a story in the first person and this person described past lives, inner peace etc etc and it was one of the most enlightening reads i have ever experienced.
this essentially got me thinking about what other people would think if i told them all that i thought and everything that went on in my head.
i recently started speaking to my subconsciance, well trying to and ive been having some results, like full sentances spoken from inside me.
I am reffered to as you, and when asked why if my subconscience was a part of i was told in reply"because i couldnt understand if he reffered to himself as me".
so basically hearing voices is a trait of insanity i dont know what type i just know it is, and i would think i was insane if i didnt recieve so much enlightenment through this.

if you's wish i shall talk further about this

Both of these statements are wrong.

a) "hold order" takes care of first statement
and
b) Civil Commitment takes care of the second.

Not too long ago "homosexuality" was in the DSM II or III as a mental illness. (So DSM maybe be a "guidebook" but it isn't the tome of truth)

Insanity is determined by which attorney has the most convincing experts.
(simple as that)

For my layman's insanity test I prefer to steal a sound bite from the history of the porn industry....."I may not be able to define it, but I know it when I see it."

This is not true,,,well not in UK
Ive been taking away on several accounts against my will,,,one time in cuffs because of my so called mental illness.ive seen many people in rehab that believed they have a mental illness and some dont..Theres many that believe whats told by the psychiatrists and believe they are mentally ill and some take their own lifes because of it.

It is in many cases just 'gifts' and the psychiatrists seems to detor these thoughts from us,,they try to drum that out of our minds,,,,pill us up,,,so we forget and beleive we are 'mentally ill'.

I believe some know some stuff and will never forget 2003 someone being escorted out by 2 men in suits,,,,he heard voices.

Personally, I don't think that relating to something that someone labelled as "mentally ill" has written, necessarily reflects on your own mental health.

With regards to hearing the subconscious, that isn't something I've experienced. That's not to say that others on this site haven't had similar experiences - perhaps it would be worth using the search to have a look for relevant threads.

IMO I think you're the best person to gauge whether you're experiencing any issues. If you do have concerns about your mental health, perhaps you should consider contacting your GP or another health professional to discuss with them

Peace to you

i think you have misunderstood what i was trying to say
I am not worried in the slightest about my health I am trying to understand that even though some people may seem insane they may not be.
Like the most ridiculous thing i can think of...someone said that a black dog told them to kill, now i know this is most definately insanity, but what if they were being guided by a god or spirit to destroy this persons life who when they were older or something became an anti-christ or serial killer etc

also, Alienmindflare i would be extremely interested in your experiences of being taken away, and why if you dont mind talking about it

Damezthe2nd

The first time was 1999 Sept time,I was delusional and hearing to many voices, seeing to many things that wasnt there,my alien friend that I call Jukey George and hearing his ship I had beliefs that some famous people was coming to see me. 1 doctor came out and accessed me and said I needed to go into hospital,,I cant remember who else came out that time.
I cant put the years when it all happened but one time my gp came first then a psychiatrist and a couple social workers and care workers,I was told if I didnt comply and go in they would call the police and I would be forced to go,I went with a friend that time in the ambulance.
Another time the doctors/social workers/shrinks came out, sectioned me,,,I said I wouldnt go,,,they called the police, they came,I walked up my street and they casually walked behind and cuffed me.

Another time, the police threatened me with mase because I wouldnt get out my car,,I said I wouldnt go,,then he said right,,we will call the special police,,,special police??? anyway half hour later,,these so called special police turned up in a van and 6 police got out.I saw them and said,ok,I'll go.

I did this below to go on my website,,I have alot to tell and I hate the system they hold in there,,,they are totally wrong for what they do to us.

Oh and I was debating whether or not leave Robs name on or not but I thought what the hell he probs wont see this thread and its not unusal for people like me to have delusions about him.

I responded well to treatment lol sounds like Im at the vets

Of course, send me a u2u I wouldnt want everyone to know in this site what I actually think because to alot it would seem delusional and just me having a mental illness but I do actually believe alot that I get told in my head. I will eleborate a bit more and whatever Ive been through,,may seem some bad s**t but it has made me stronger and more determined to do something about what goes on.
