Denver's rearing blue mustang draws wild reaction

news.yahoo.com

DENVER – Rearing 32 feet high, the metallic blue mustang sculpture demands the attention of every traveler through Denver International Airport.

But that wild look of "Mustang" is prompting some to wonder if the sculpture installed just a year ago should be moved somewhere less prominent. Alternate monikers suggested for the horse with the glowering eyes include "Bluecifer," "Satan's Steed" and "Blue Devil Horse."

"The city of Denver commissioned the fiberglass sculpture from New Mexico artist Luis Jimenez in 1993, two years before the airport opened. His 1969 sculpture "Man on Fire" and 1990's "Vaquero" have been displayed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

In 2006, Jimenez was killed when a section of the unfinished horse fell from a hoist at his Hondo, N.M., studio. Jimenez's sons, Adan and Orion, completed the sculpture, which was installed Feb. 11, 2008."

This thing is just creepy, and adds to the creepiness of the airport, and the stories that are told about some of the weird things in the airport. Thought I would share.

If you drive around Denver, there are many many HUGE art objects.
So, the horse is rather normal IMO compared to the big huge Bear downtown and the other sculptures you can find.

Here is the making of it:

The horse is not satanic, this is all I hear on the radio is people takling about this stupid thing. If if was any other color or had wings some people would still complain, IMO they need to get lives and forget about the stupid horse.

That's one of the horses of the apocalypse, a reminder of what is to come.

This is no coincidence. They just don't make a 32 foot tall horse that looks like it just tossed off the devil himself.

Careful thought was put into this.

It means something.

Um no. It ia a bronco (Denver Broncos) with red eyes to make it look intimidating, nothing more. It has "boy parts" so some are calling offence to it.
